Apple care+ can be bought 60 days after iPhone purchages. When preordered, what date is then relevant. The day it was ordered or the day it arived

If Apple really cared about the environment (as they repeatedly claim to), they would make spare parts available at fair market prices so that 3rd parties or individuals can perform repairs themselves, especially as devices age out of warranty.
Anything about Apple pricing, servicing, return policies, etc. needs to stand up to large-scale attempts at cheating, hacking, abuse, and fraud.

So it’s not that Apple doesn’t exactly care about this, it’s not the only consideration they have to best in mind when crafting these policies.

Expenses devices are expensive to repair. That isn’t really surprising.

That's a blanket statement that doesn't have to be true. SOME expensive devices might be expensive to repair. With an operation as big as Apple, with the number of devices in peoples hands, how much do you really think it costs to pop the innards of an XS out and pop them back into a new case? An hour, if that? $549/hr? MAGA, man!

We are buying new XR's this week. Can someone verify the screen repair price?

the article says

"AppleCare+ is an optional warranty plan that extends an iPhone's warranty coverage to two years from the purchase date of the plan. AppleCare+ adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a lower service fee of $29 for screen repairs and $99 for any other damage. "

and then goes onto say

"If the screen cracks on an iPhone XR, for example, the repair fee with AppleCare+ is up to $178, savings of at least $21. If the back glass shatters, the repair fee with AppleCare+ is up to $248, savings of at least $151. Those prices are based on the full $149 cost of AppleCare+ for iPhone XR plus deductibles. "

So is the screen repair $29 or $178? Those are very different numbers.

I think Applecare+ is worth it-mentioned briefly in the article.
I've taken it on most of our devices and it's very clearly worked cheap for me.
We've had 1 phone replaced with new, 2 ipads replaced for new, two MacbookPro screens (they changed the battery and keyboard on one without being asked) and one XS screen which was changed with a small fee like about $30 I forget exactly how much.
All insurance is cheap if you use it and expensive if you don't but they are really good about it where I am and it has saved me a lot of money.
