Less product for more money. Yup, that sounds like today's Apple.

On another note, one can get an Anker battery pack able to fully charge an iPhone for about $30 (depending on battery size and country, etc.).

Guess I will just throw my Anker battery pack in my backpack on trips in and out of the city.

Hah... we said the same thing at the same time.

It still boggles my mind with all this effort going into device thinness to then needing to have to whack on one of these. What's the point?! I would preferred a thicker device that have a 50% bigger battery from the outset. An iPhone Xs Max with a 4-4500mAh battery in it would be wicked! Or at least offer this type of thing in the product line up as a alternate model.

Call me crazy... but even then. 50% extra juice may be worth it.. it’s just enough for all day events.. leaving the house at 3pm out with friends till 2am... this will be enough juice to surf social media or take pictures... I don’t think anybody is trying to go 3 days without charging their phone.

After seeing this I went over to Mophie.com to compare their upcoming versions. Their case for the Max has 2200 mAh capacity, can be charged wirelessly or via USB-C, unobstructed access to the lightning port and is nicer looking (IMO) with more color choices, for $10 less.

Why on Earth would anyone choose Apple's version instead?

Use anker slim 10000 with amazon 4” lightening cable. Much cheaper and 5-7 times more power

Before everyone starts losing their minds.
The correct battery capacity unit is wh, aka watt hour, not mah.
That is why Tesla name its cars P100D, Performance 100 Kwh Dual Motors.

It has the same capacity of iPhone Xs. 10.1 Wh.
It has less mAh but more voltage so the capacity is 10.1 wh far more previous smartbattery cases.

We need to reiterate the mAh myth and MR would be good to not jump on clickbait titles - something that could have been solved had the editor just Google searched "does more mah mean more battery" or looking at Apple's battery quote time compared to the previous version before reposting some twit's Twitter findings.

Along with megapixels, core count, and megahertz, people just look at one part of the numbers and assume more = better.

You get less practical benefit (battery capacity) for your money yet you pay more than you did for the previous iteration of the Apple Battery Case. Sadly, I’m not surprised.

On another note, I hope within five to ten years, someone can blow the doors off current battery technology like Apple did to the smartphone industry with the iPhone in 2007 and we will start seeing really innovative things like 20,000 mAh batteries in a space that’s the size of a book of matches.

This really sucks.

I was waiting to see what the battery capacity is, but frankly was expecting this to be higher than the previous battery case for iPhone 7, especially for the Xs Max. I don't see me bothering with this now. Higher price and lower capacity. Thanks, but no thanks.

Yet another hilarity in Apple's lineup. Cut its usefulness in half, tack on 30% to the price, rinse, wash, and repeat.

What's Tim smoking these days?

Too bad they didn't offer battery choices as they do with device memory capacities when ordering an iPhone.

Because this way, they can charge you for the phone AND the charging case. And there are a lot of "Apple only" people who will buy it.

Since I've had my XS Max, I haven't had a need for a backup battery. But my usage outside of the home is pretty limited, unless I'm doing some activity where I want to take pictures.

Lets be honest: apple just doesn't care anymore. You get more for less now, while paying higher prices.

It’s about time people stop putting up with crap like this. If no one buys them, maybe they’ll take the hint.
