But as the years went on, quality and innovation dropped dramatically...I stopped caring like i used to.

The only reason i'll be getting the new one is because my mom needs a new phone. So i'll give her my 5 (which was just replaced under warranty...again!). And i'll use her upgrade for me and get the new one.

Smh

I have done this since the 3GS!. I truly don't understand why people hold on to the same iphone for 2 years + when you could this and have the latest iphone yearly. I guess some people aren't slick enough.

Maybe some people don't feel the need to have the newest thing. I'm keeping my 5 until at least the 6. Maybe the 6S.

OK, so it seems lots of people who will make this upgrade will do it because it's free-to-cheap to do it - which is a perfectly good reason

For me, the only feature that could make me upgrade on top of the rumors, would be a much better battery life - little like they did with MBA. Although my expectations on this are low for the 5S

People ask these crazy questions because they don't have the money to get the new iPhone, so they need people on this forum to justify one reason why they shouldn't so they can sleep better at night. Stop posting on these forums so much and go make so money and you can have the new gadgets yearly.
You really don't need a new phone yearly. It's a phone, your old one still works fine.

We upgrade every year because we can do it for low cost. My wife's 4S is already locked in at $205 at Gazelle - I'll get the 5S, my wife gets my 5, rinse, repeat every year. If we didn't have staggered contracts, or she wanted the new phone with her upgrade (she doesn't really care about getting 'last year's phone'), then I'd just keep the 5, but we can, so why not? It costs us very little to do it.

We do the same here using our Verizon upgrades. I need to have the latest gadget and my wife does not mind having last year's. Only difference is that we sell our iPhones to buybackworld now instead of gazelle to earn a few more bucks.

The only reason I'm upgrading from my 5 to the 5S is cause I just so happen to switch carriers, sold my old iPhone 5, and bought a new one with a contract at the Apple Store on August 21, 2013 and since Apple has a 30 day Return/Exchange policy my 30th day falls on Sept 20!!

The camera is very tempting, but I am going to hold off. ios7 will help my 5 feel like a new phone. I canceled my gazelle box already for my 5. I'll wait for the 6.

Sadly I agree with you this time. I have had all the iPhones since the 3G but after seeing today's announcement ill stick to my iphone 5. The 5 is very fast and don't really care for the fingerprint scanner.
