But are eggs going to be cheaper??
Yes! Eggs currently cost less money than cell phones (for now).

Who knows what the future holds?

Folks, this is not that crazy..
The iPhone 16 Pro Max currently costs "up to $1599"

Throw 40%-ish tariffs on that and you're there... and that's without any of the normal Apple price hikes that come along from time to time.

Well I am still enjoying all the features of my 1TB 15 PM and saw nothing of interest in the 16 PM, the 17 PM rumors on the telephoto being mostly digital make me think I am gonna save my money and see what is there next year perhaps year end sales on 17 PM in summer before the 18 line? 90 percent health on battery also

He showed them, those Chinese, Canadians and EU companies are going to be paying those high tariffs and we'll gain the upper hand, right? Oops, what do you mean "we" pay for them? In the meantime, Trump will be introducing sweeping tax cuts for Corporations and the top tax brackets. Brilliant!

We don't do any trade with Russia because they're sanctioned. You can't tariff trade that doesn't exist.

We didn't tariff the Vatican either - does the Pope control the President?
Norfolk Island is on the tariff list, but Russia isnt.

Here is what will happen:

Step 1 - No tariffs on Russia.

Step 2 - Cancel US sanctions against Russia.

Step 3 - Trade with Russia who has no tariffs.

Given that these phones are close ( I need the 1TB PM at least) to my M series 16 inch MacBook Pro i think I am moving to a 3-4 year cycle on my iPhones as well. There is not enough new of interest these days for me to upgrade each year. There could be a bunch of us in this mode Apple if you keep your prices too high

can't we bring back jobs that people actually want to do? I assure you no one wants to work 80 hours a week assembling phones and even if they did there aren't enough people to do the work in the USA and legally immigrating is nearly impossible for low skill workers and even for others as well

Hope this won’t affect the UK..??
I'm having a hard time seeing these American companies make their U.S. consumers eat the entirety of these exorbitant tariffs. I would imagine they'll try to 'spread the love' across their global market, so prices will go up for everyone relatively equally instead of ~40% in one country. That's just conjecture from me, though. We'll see.

Sorry, pal, you'll make phones and you'll like it. #winning #liberation

They could do that, and watch their sales literally plummet through the floor. You think a standard iPhone starting at 1000 pounds will sell?
Apple has a fair few billion stashed away, it could easily ride it out, but of course won’t. But if they increase prices by 40% across the board.. good luck. Whilst people like Apple goods, there is competition out there if more people find them too expensive.
I as an outsider can understand why Trump has do it, but I also can see how sales of US goods abroad can plummet and the American people will be paying a lot more for goods in general. And that’s on top of the ridiculous inflation since Covid.
