I'm having a hard time seeing these American companies make their U.S. consumers eat the entirety of these exorbitant tariffs. I would imagine they'll try to 'spread the love' across their global market, so prices will go up for everyone relatively equally instead of ~40% in one country. That's just conjecture from me, though. We'll see.
There is already a movement to avoid American goods because of the imposition of these tariffs. If American companies seek to help Americans by spreading the cost elsewhere, I see that bandwagon getting very big, very quickly.

Because Norfolk Island would be used for arbitrage to evade the tariffs. When you actually put a couple of brain cells into thinking instead of consuming rage content and acting on emotion, you don't need explainers as to why things are done.
Ah, so that explains why he put tariffs on an uninhabited island covered in Penguins with no infrastructure. The Penguins may start a cross-shipping empire.

I'm really enjoying these full meltdown comments. I don't always trust news that exaggerates what's happening.

Nintendo has postponed its new Switch 2 pre-orders in the US only ‘indefinitely’ whilst they review pricing, due to the rather large tariffs Trump has put on their goods now. It is a bit of a meltdown if you read the news globally and across the board of trade.

I doubt it. A comment section full of people who have never negotiated a deal in their entire lives. He has everyone’s attention now. They need us more than we need them or new iPhones. Not a week ago the thread is lamenting “we don’t need annual updates” anyway.

Sure, that must be why every single island/territory which could be used to circumvent tariffs is on the list... oh wait.

The Orange Convicted Felon runs as fast as he can to get to his beloved Florida golf course as the entire stock market goes POOF! He doesn't know WTF he or any of his chosen minions are doing "running" the government, but you know Puti does!
The entire stock market was fine when we were going into a complete financial disaster, that shows how backwards it is. Your fear mongering is falling on deaf ears

This is not negotiation, this is pure extortion and corruption

Analysts are some of the dumbest human beings out there. LMFAO. Apple would sell a couple hundred thousand iPhones at those prices.

Sorry to break it to you stupid analysts but Apple will in fact be SWALLOWING a ton of this cost.

And by the way these tariffs are actually great and 100% necessary. The US has allowed all of our manufacturing to be taken overseas particularly by China at our detriment.

We have EPA regulations and climate initiatives but don’t give a **** that all we did was moved OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT TO CHINA. Pathetically stupid humans.

We also do not give a **** about the fact that our labor is simply torture-labor and child labor in these countries.

We are fine with it all. Hypocritical dumb people.

The tariffs are great and THE ONLY THING THAT WILL FORCE COMPANIES TO COME BACK TO THE US.

I think VW has the best approach - add a tariff surcharge line to the price. Perhaps all businesses should consider it. Consider when companies, and using Apple as an example, raises the price of an iPhone from $999 to $1499 all blame and finger pointing goes to Apple. However, if Apple itemizes $999 for phone and $500 tariff surcharge for a total of $1499 sell price, the transparency is front and center for everyone - in their face - of what caused the price increase.
