**Update**
Got my phone back today.
"Enclosed you will find your original iPhone. Our technicians performed full diagnostic tests on your iPhone, and either the diagnostics resolved the reported symptom(s) or the symptom(s) was not reproducible as reported when you set up the repair"
Well. It still looks the same. I sent them a note along with my phone with a video that looks bad with exact times, and put down appleservedup.com.
My guess is that they ignore this and run a diagnostic program.
I'm not sure what to do at this point. Wait for an update? I'm sick of dealing with the people at the apple store who just play dumb and I'm tired of not having a phone.
I almost want to take it back and be done with the issue.
I feel the same way. I love everything about the phone but this whole issue with the screens is BS. Im thinking about just getting an iPod Touch and going back to my crappy sprint phone.
Went back to the apple store AGAIN to replace last night. I have actually had a very positive experience at the store, and they understood the problem. It helped that the genius had a PERFECT screen, and could easily see the difference. They acknowledged the problem and swapped it. Once it was obvious that the swapped one was just as bad, they told me they documented the problem, and to come back in two weeks and hope for a better batch. What was great was that they put in the paperwork that I could return, not have to explain my situation, and just swap.
Incidentally, they also told me that there still is no official word from apple on this problem. This leads me to believe that this is a hardware issue, and apple is avoiding a massive recall.
Just my thoughts,
Jeff
Has anyone purchased a phone in the last week or so that has this issue? I'm thinking of giving Apple a call and just returning the phone and waiting a couple weeks before buying a new one. I'll order online as I don't think our Apple store has enough demand to move these bad phones.

I wonder if the phones now are getting better? I sure wish we'd get some more week 39, or maybe even week 40 information.
I just received a week 41 replacement directly from China (it arrived today) for a previous phone purchased from the Online Store two weeks ago which was returned due to the negative black issue. This one unfortunately does as well with the same LCD type (7455232 series).

People are saying (at least on the Touches) that 1.1.1 fixes it a bit. What firmware did yours come back with?
If not, well, this explains the "price drop"...

I'd say upgrade it to 1.1.1 (if you have AT&T) and see what you get.

Greetings all..
I've been following the negative black forum threads for quite some time and it has been the single reason I've delayed my purchase of an iPhone. I'm happy to report that I received my iPhone yesterday and all looks well.
Ordered: 10/10/2007 (Apple Online Store)
Received: 10/12/2007 (Super fast shipping)
Week: 41
LCD: 7455232
Shipped Version: 1.1.1
There is no evidence of any negative black issue at all. There are zero stuck/dead pixels. This screen is absolutely amazing!![]()

Looks like weeks 36-40 are the bad ones. Week 41's the charm?
