it's not out of place really, there's many apps with many different designs, so it's fine. also not all apple's stock apps are white symbols on a coloured background, like notes, safari, camera, photos, weather, contacts, compass, youtube, maps, remote & findmyiphone (ok not a stock app, but still an apple app). the ones that are as you described are phone, messages and email, so actually FEW stock apps are white symbols on a coloured background.....

Phone, Messages, Email, iTunes, Voice memos, Stocks, App Store, iBooks, and iPod technically since it's still around, so yeah, not most but just under half. I still maintain that it looks like the odd-one-out. You like it though, good for you. I don't.

oh yea, i missed stocks, app store and itunes store, knew i was forgetting some, but still, not most. Also add Videos to the list of ones that aren't a white symbol. so it's not really going against the grain of apple's app design. anyway, still it's not the odd 1 out unless you really count 60% of apple's app icons as being 60%

Oh and that white symbol version of the music app looks ugly as hell. it doesn't work on that background. Apple's iPod app has a pretty solid orange background, the music one does not, so that's why white doesn't work.

the icon won't change, it's the same one that's been on the iPod Touch since it came out, you'll just have to deal with it, i quite like it actually, simple and elegant.

lol, so you're moaning that apple has made it harder for you to get to your videos, when it's you making it so by putting it on that page giving yourself 3 extra steps to get to it instead of 1 less than you have now?! that's crazy talk. Also as the fella said earlier, Video Podcasts are under both Music and Video apps.

Even if I put it on page one, it's still causing hassle because I have to rearrange my apps. And it's already impossible to fit all your apps on one page, more so now, so you're gonna have to swipe or tap another step if videos doesn't make your top apps.

So it just seems silly when it's such an unecessary change.

but if you do that already with a folder hidden on the last page, what does it matter if there's another one next to it, since you're going to avoid that page anyway?!

why are you making assumptions? when did i say i even did that?

i have two pages. the apps i don't use are in my utilities folder on the mainscreen. my setup is clean and this app/folder would mess everything up.

again, it's you who is making more steps for yourself. you've imposed your own limitations, from what you've said, with the half pages, also are you not using folders? or do you really have so many games that you have 2 pages of complete folders of games? that's quite a lot.

"A phone, a widescreen iPod, an internet browser... a phone, a widescreen iPod, an internet browser.. are you getting it?"

This quote by Steve Jobs is no more valid, because the iPod app is gone.

But i think we should all try it out when iOS 5 is released, and if we don't like it, then we can all send mass emails to Tim Cook and it should be fine! :)

He also said that the "Revolutionary mobile phone", the "Widescreen iPod with touch controls", and "Breakthrough Internet device" weren't three separate devices. And since then, the iPhone, the iPod touch and the iPad were released. :p

I use the iOS 5 beta. The app has been split into "Music" and "Videos".

Even though it is split it still isn't a 100% split. For example, I have podcasts that I then consolidate into a podcast playlist. Some podcasts have both audio and video episodes however I can watch all of them in the music app.

Near as I can tell anything you sync from Music, audiobooks, podcasts will all be watchable in the music app

Stuff synced from video (and video episodes of podcasts) show up in video.

You guys will whine about anything. Create an entertainment folder put all your music, video apps in the folder and move on with life.

Just IMO, but Folders ruin the look the and feel of the OS. You have rows of gorgeous icons, and then some black box with little dots in it. Hideous.
