You really should know how to reset your iPod (see the post above).

I have 0 problems with both updating my original iPod or after updating it. I actually just picked up a leather case for it, and can now [safely] take it anywhere I want (and not scratch it any more).

I also talked with an Apple rep at [in]compusa today, and used some plastic cleaner and wax/polish on it to help remove some of the scratches.

Ipod Died!!...not

Thx..swahilibill...now I have action...but...it has been updating for over hour. Is it safe to disconnect through ITunes? And why does it need to update every time I boot ITunes? How to stop this?...plz advise?

in this new version it takes forever to disconnect, If yours says do not disconnect, but the itunes says update complete, click on the iPod removal button or drag the Ipod to the trash, I suppose you could just unplug it, but that I am not sure. Hope it helps, and I am sure we will see an update to the update pretty soon here, hopefully!

Meguiar's Mirror Glaze 17 (professional plastic cleaner). They also have a plastic polish, 10 Professional Plastic Polish. You should be able to find the stuff at boat supply shops/stores. That is where my father picked it up many years ago.

With ipod 1.2 the ipod now displays do not disconnect when it is mounted on the desktop. In order to get it to say "It is now safe to disconnect (all i know is theirs a check mark)" you need to unmount the drive. If your ipod is on auto update (every time u plug in it updates the list) it does it all automatically. If you manage your ipod manually you need to manually unmount it as well, otherwise it will always say Do Not Disconnect (its not updating the firmware every time itunes launches).

This update is really great, now all I need is iSync and iCal...

Hey, did anybody see the new iPods yet? 'cause I think the reason the iPod doesn't have an Apple logo with 'iPod' written under it when it starts up is that the new ones have the new Apple font (Myriad not Apple Garamond)... does anyone know for sure?
I know this doesn't really matter, just wondering 🙂
