iPod Touch 2.0 Firmware Update (Almost) Live

The wife wants a Touch in a few months time. Will the new firmware come as standard by then?

That is usually the case, it's due to the way Apple accounts for revenue via iPhone and iPod touch. iPhone is accounted as "subscription" so it's constantly generating revenue, that's how they justify the free updates. iPod touch is a different system, hence, legally, they have to charge something for it.

The only reason they probably aren't charging more is because they're hoping you're buying it under the guise of buying more from the app store.

Does (will) the exchange push work for non-corporate iphone customers?

It would seem to be a no brainer that most people in small business have their personal phones doing double duty as their corporate phones too so the question is pretty important and one that could allow AT&T to really gouge plenty of people who buy one in their personal account and then have to buy another one or transfer the cell phone into some corporate account.

Does anyone know the answer?

Probably because it was FREE then and now we have to pay for it dammit.
Personally I am going to hold off till at least this afternoon, maybe Apple will relent and give it to some of us. I have only had my Touch for about a month.
