I'm doing it again... I hope it was a fluke and not a new whiny error that we have to sit out....

Did that for me too. Apparently its backing up all your music and videos and whatnot.

I have successfully installed 2.0 firmware!!! its restoring my music and videos now

Upgrade completed. See you all later, I'm off to play with my gooey 2.0 goodness. I did get charged for the update but it was worth it.

It took me at least 10 minutes, if not more.

Restoring takes a long time... glad i removed some video before hand or it'd be even longer.

I am regretting that I did not do the same thing.

Second try and I still get error 36 saying there was an issue updating the iPod cause it couldn't restore or something..

What can I do?

At what point did you get that message? (How far did you get?)

Strangely enough it was during the update and restore. Just as it was backing it up, it ends with the dreadful error 36.

I'm so unhappy about this.. I'm attempting it for the 3rd time now.. I'll take a screen grab of the error next time it pops up.

like a lot of people here last night i downloaded the manual link for the ipod touch software.(me impatient). i now see that the proper way of doing it is up and running.(i.e thru the itunes store) would anybody happen to know if these are 2 seperate versions.
