How much will iPod touch 2.0 cost?

Sure. Wouldn't it be great if every single person in the world lived in the US? It's easy for you guys to make comments like this, but you seem to overlook the fact that for most of the world's population, buying an iPhone is impossible. So, we just get screwed?

I actually live in the USA and can't get an iPhone. I don't have coverage here in SW NH. I would give anything for an iPhone, but an iPod touch is my only option and I don't mind paying for software upgrades...if I don't like it I won't buy it.

We have an amazing opportunity in this free world. If you like something vote your confidence for it by paying money for it, if you don't like it don't vote for it...don't buy it!!!

People who come on web forums to talk about the products the own represent a tiny fraction of the market. People who hack said products to get around paying a few extra bucks represent and even smaller portion of the whole. I don't think Apple is worried about the jailbreakers stunting profits.

Maybe you should start buying computer products made by Australian companies. Oh wait...

:apple:Okay you are in australia and your currency is jacked up but we are not talking about the price over there. Here it is $9.95 and most of the people on this site are from USA where its this price. Your choosing to buy those products so really wow, dont complain to us.:apple:
And if your calculation is correct wouldn't it be something like... 24.95 or whatever. Anyways this has really nothing to do with what we are talking about, it almost does but not really. You are just complaining.:apple:

Wow. Why did you purchase the product in the first place if you have a problem with paying? :apple: You bought the product. Pay and just get over it. :apple:

IgnatiusTheKing - Australian Companies, Oh wait...?? What's that supposed to mean? That people in Australia don't or cannot make quality electronics??

-:knabel:- - Well, im sorry for contributing to Mac Rumors Forums. I actually used to like coming on here and posting little tidbits, helping people, comparing things and what not, until your post arrived. ALL of these people on here are either complaining about the $9.95 price tag on the iPod Touch/iPhone 2.0 Software or saying to everyone to just get over it. It is $15.00 over here in Australia, and if Mac Rumors has ever had an Australian extension to their site, I would have posted my comment there instead where it would have at least been read and not put under scrutiny by yourself. You (well not necessarily you) are complaining about that measly price tag when people down under have to pay more for the same things, that is what I meant in my comment. Thankyou

Kohkane - I purchased my iPod Touch because I wanted a new iPod, is that okay? And No I do not have a problem with paying since I paid nearly $500 dollars for the thing in the first place, as mentioned above, I was just commenting on how Australians have to pay more for Apple Products than you do over in the UK or USOA. I didn't expect these comments, or any in reply for that matter, it was just my contribution.

In the future, I shall refrain from posting anything in reply on Mac Rumors Forums to anyone. If I keep getting these replies to my comments or even threads, I shall go elsewhere and close my MR account.

Thankyou,

Boohoo! The point is, if you don't like a price on something IMPORTED, try to find something made by a homegrown company. It's usually cheaper. Nobody is forcing you to buy Apple products, and nobody is going to beg you to stay and contribute now that you've gotten your panties in a wad over people pointing out the obvious.

that doesn't make sense, because most apple products are made in china, and are therefore imported to both australia and the US. afaik there is no real difference in import duty, yet apple products are more here than in the US. too this day, i still wonder why they made a premium out of australian purchasers.

Apple products may be made in China, but they are designed by an American company, so it is not considered an import (hence the term "homegrown company"). The bottom line is, no one is making anyone buy Apple products. We have a (relatively) free market in the U.S., which means Apple can charge whatever they want for their products. If you don't like it, buy an OzPod instead. Not buying a company's products is the only sure-fire way to get them to lower the price.

Lord knows complaining on an internet forum never helped (not that it's stopped anyone).

I honestly didn't realise that being a "user who dares to comment" on Mac Rumors was so bad, IgnatiusTheKing. Also, I still DO NOT KNOW why you have to keep re-iterating your point about HOMEGROWN COMPANIES (I couldn't care), and things such as OzPods. People are on THIS forum site and are contributing to the discussion, no matter how unfair or inappropriate you think it is. I (and I am sure, others) are getting sick of the fact that you constantly trample posts that contradict your opinion on how cheap the SW is going to be, or that it is "OK" that Apple are charging us for it. As I have mentioned before, I have NO PROBLEM with paying for the software OR the iPod. AND I am SURE that people just like to have a little thing called a WHINGE on the forum (just like me).

Is there any chance that Apple would attempt to provide it at a free or reduced rate to those who already paid for the January Apps update (as opposed to those who jailbreaked their way into it or purchased later) and then charged $9.95 [US] for everyone else? The people who would have paid for the update would have bought it between September and January and would be the Christmas/early-adopter crowd. The only precedent I can think of would be the iPhone rebate after the price drop for early adopters.

That doesn't make a bit of sense, and posting in red doesn't make it any more effective. And if you really didn't have a problem paying for the iPod and its software, why did you throw a hissy fit about it costing more in Australia, and why are you continuing to throw said fit when anyone points out that you are under no obligation to purchase anything?

And while we're at it, go ahead and drop the ruse about not posting here anymore. And what's a whinge?

i was expressing an my ideas based around a discrepancy, does that really count as complaining?

No, and that wasn't really meant for you, but for people who were literally complaining about the price in relation to a) the iPhone's price and b) the price in other countries.

Probably should have made it a different post.

Okay then...

whinge |(h)winj| Brit., informal
verb ( whingeing ) [ intrans. ]
complain persistently and in a peevish or irritating way : stop whingeing and get on with it!
noun
an act of complaining in such a way.

And, since nothing else seems to work;

In the beginning, I was simply contributing to the thread on the price of the software here in Australia. I did not mean to offend you by mentioning the price in another country, I was simply having my bit in the conversation whether you like it or not and whether it was even wanted. I do not care.

And as for the "Hissy Fit" I supposedly had on the forum thread, It never happened. As I said above, I was simply commenting on the price in Australia, and now, I am very sorry for doing so.

And I may or may not drop the "ruse" about no longer contributing here.

Thankyou, And have a nice day! :D

I don't have a Touch, but my sister just got one after hearing the sad news that she couldn't get an iPhone 3G on her Verizon network. She gets a work discount, so she's sticking with them.

I'm with the majority here that says SJ can take his 2.0 Touch fee and stick it where the sun don't shine.

That being said, I will be sure to "find" ;) the 2.0 update for my sister and get it loaded on her Touch. She just bought the thing a week ago, and I'll be damned if she's gonna spend more money to get functionality that iPhone users will get for free.

What's the matter Steve? 16 BILLION in cash not enough for you?

Those of you blaming Jobs or Apple for this are ridiculous...
You can thank the Enron for this... Sarbanes Oxley!

i know, they're arguing over the internet. arguing over the internet is like competing in the special olympics, whether you win or lose, you're still retarded

Wasn't there a period of time with 1.1.3 Software Update where if you bought an iPod touch within a week you got the update for free? I'm going to get on the 5th of July and was just wondering.

Either way, I don't mind paying $9.95 because I feel that it will actually be worth it in my opinion. Your mileage may vary.
