How much will iPod touch 2.0 cost?

I know everything the company has told the public and you're right, I don't think there should be a fee for what they've advertised. If there is a fee, well, I hope it is indeed nominal.
Well, nominal is all in the eyes of the beholder. Some would say that $.01 is too much, while others would consider $99 to be a good deal. I'm hoping for $20 or less, but the AppStore either way is probably not the main source of the charge.

Ha! $5?? That's probably how much a typical app will cost

But if it were $5, then...that's cheap!

Of course, you are talking about buying access to a store.

You were complaining a while ago that you paid for the 1.1.3 update. Well, I'll put it this way.

You only paid once for the device and a messly $20 for 1 update. Your total $299 8GB iPod Touch + $20 for 1.1.3.

Total = $219 + tax

Now iPhone users are stuck with 2 years worth of bills no less than $65.81 ($59.99 + taxes). Now, who really got the bad end of the deal, taking into account that Apple takes a bite of those $65?

Minimum iPhone user total = $399 8GB iPhone + (12 Months x $59.99 + tax) + Activatition Fee ($29).

=====================

Now tell me, who really got wacked more?

I pay just as much for my Verizon phone service. Goodnight.

And what do you get with your service? The dollar amount isn't the only factor.

I read an article from a while back stating that O2 gives 40% of its iPhone revenue (not profit) to Apple. That's a lot of money, and I would be surprised if the majority of that went to anything buy iPhone development. iPhone users still pay.

You said the magic word there...Verizon, over bills, costumer service sucks, one ugly UI, and I consider verizon the retard cousin of AT&T.

BTW, you choose to buy a iPod touch instead of iPhone. So really, you got yourself into this position.

Don't blame Apple, they can't give you something extra that you haven't paid for.

Hey, at least I get service everywhere.

And yes, I did buy the iPod Touch and yes, I did buy the January applications. Do I think I should have to pay for updates to those applications? Not at all.

The failure of your argument is calling 2.0 an update to the January apps. The fact of the matter is, we don't know what it will bring, other than the ability to run more/different apps and the ability to buy them from iTunes.

Those two features alone represent a MAJOR upgrade to the touch's OS, and anything more (and there likely will be more) will only mean it's an even bigger upgrade than we thought.

And, for the record, I have Verizon, too. Their interface might suck and the phones might not be the best, but the service quality (and the customer service) is the best in the business. That's why I bought a touch; because I didn't want to switch to AT&T. I have a good phone and a great mobile web/PDA device (that's about to get even better). And I'm very, very okay with that.

..wow guys..

^that is most likely right.

I think people need to calm down about it costing money, first of all none of you know how much it will costk. So stop hyper-ventilating about all of it when you know you are going to pay for it. If its $20 I think you can afford it if you can afford something 299$/399$/499$...
And seriously its a firmware/software upgrade/update, why does it matter if it costs money if it adds cool new things to your iPod. I will buy it, and if you want to than do it but if you are 'too' worried about the price than don't get it. Your iPod wont be useless it does what you wanted it to do in the first place, go on the internet (at pretty fast speeds for wifi), play music and watch videos on a awesome screen.

Seriously think about what you are making a big deal about.

- Support for Asian languages, with character recognition.
- Support for MobileMe (Apple's .Mac online service, now compatible with Mac, Windows and iPhone [and iPod touch], and given a BlackBerry-style push component).

Where did you read we could edit iWork & Office documents?

:apple:I think the update should be free not because the software isn't worth much but because apple will make a fortune from the appstore:apple:

The update should be free. Why should early adopters who chose to support Apple early pay the premium? If you go buy a new iPod, it will be preloaded with the update. Apple is just moneygrubbing at this point.

Yes, but that fortune plus $9.95 from every iPod touch owner is an even bigger fortune. Not very business savvy, are we? ;)

if people like some on this thread jailbreak instead of paying because they think it's a rip off for the software then apple will make no money off them. Much smaller fortune. Not very buisness savvy are we?

Actually, to correct you...The price of 2.0 will be $15.95!.! Even people over where I am are ripped off more than people over in the USA. Eg: an iMac over there is $1199, here, they are $2699 for the same machine. I saw the 2.0 price on the keynote and performed the calculation.

**This sum is for Australian Currency**

People who come on web forums to talk about the products the own represent a tiny fraction of the market. People who hack said products to get around paying a few extra bucks represent and even smaller portion of the whole. I don't think Apple is worried about the jailbreakers stunting profits.

Maybe you should start buying computer products made by Australian companies. Oh wait...

:apple:Okay you are in australia and your currency is jacked up but we are not talking about the price over there. Here it is $9.95 and most of the people on this site are from USA where its this price. Your choosing to buy those products so really wow, dont complain to us.:apple:
And if your calculation is correct wouldn't it be something like... 24.95 or whatever. Anyways this has really nothing to do with what we are talking about, it almost does but not really. You are just complaining.:apple:

Wow. Why did you purchase the product in the first place if you have a problem with paying? :apple: You bought the product. Pay and just get over it. :apple:

Do you think you should pay $20 to install applications on ANY device?
It's like paying to put the toast in your toaster!

That's the thing, though. You DID pay for your bread.:)

Cmon guys! Apple is giving us the opertunity to make our iPod touch even better! And for that I think we should thank them.
