Thanks. It just proves a theory that display is fused to the glass so closely that sometimes it's super easy to make it behave like this, even when slightly pressed. Exchange your iPod as soon as possible :)

yeah well wahtever you wanna call it, it sucks IMO. I got mine today and you dont even push that hard and you can see it distort, also went to apple to see if the ones on display did the same thing, sure enough a little pressure is all it takes to do it. quality in the new ones are crap! i could live with most of the other stuff but screen is way important to me im gonna wait it out for a month or so see if they get it right prob not though.

Seriously? Do you have brain damage? Why the heck would you need to be pressing that hard? Its not a sure press screen from blackberry...

the only one with brain damage is you bro, the previous generations didnt do this, im not talking about like hurt my fingers pressure or break the ipod touch pressure. lets say enough to get a stubborn smudge off the glass near the top or playing a game that might make you put a little more pressure then needed. look at the link the guy posted he compares it to the other ipod and iphone they dont do that. also go look at all the other issues the thing has, sure they redesigned it and stuff but quality control is going down the drain, thanks to making it super thin, & building it in china doesn't help ether.

I agree. The screen is just too close to glass cover, that's why it makes it so easy to distort even with a slightest pressure. The space between screen and glass in iPod touch 3gen was much bigger, and it was not so easy to distort it.

No it's not "so easy to distort even with a slightest pressure." You have to press it down far beyond any normal or reasonable use. I have seen one youtube video of an obviously defective ipod where you could press the screen and one particular spot would keep distorting, but that's not normal at all.

It's actually easier to cause this distortion with an ipad, but let me not stop the chicken littles on this forum desperate to either be unhappy or make people unhappy with their purchases.

P.S. Fusing the glass and the screen will eliminate dust under the glass problems. See, everything's not so bad.

I have to press the screen REALLY hard, and I mean really hard to make the screen distort, it took me like 4 tries to make it distort ;)

Ditto, when I use my touchscreen I just glide my finger across without placing pressure on it...

Apparently the concept of "capacitive touch" is difficult for many people. The iPod/iPhone touch screen has absolutely nothing to do with pressure - it works (essentially) with the body's electrostatic field. When you touch the screen, the device detects the disturbance and registers that as contact with the screen. There is no such thing as "push harder to go faster" in a game for the iPod/iPhone - try it yourself. Press down harder, but then try rolling your finger/thumb down so more of your skin makes contact with the screen. Same effect.

The iPhone/iPod does not have a pressure-sensitive screen. I don't understand why this is a big issue for anyone. Plus, this is LIQUID crystal. This phenomenon has been around since the tech was invented. We used to do this with calculators in grade school - it's not new.

i guess peoples definition of pressure is different i dont know. I also hope that everyone that is saying things in this post has actually had older generation ipods and has also played with the new ones, if not dont bother posting because you dont know what you talking about. Now I know when you press on an lcd screen it distorts no one is saying that is a new phenomenon (thanks for acting like we are though)!! i guess all the apple fanboys say dont put much pressure just barley tap it be real posh with the ipod (have your pinky up as you hold its the proper way), push the screen the "right" way i guess im doing it wrong to much power or ill always keep in mind its a delicate ipod. I also never said its a huge deal but it would be nice if it wasnt so thin and fragile for men that have man hands and man pressure. i'm also not out their exchanging them for more ipods i know they are all manufactured this way but maybe by waiting a month the quality will be a little better not just with this probelm but others.

Jesus christ man, just don't push so damn hard. Is that so hard? Yes it may be more sensitive than previous generations, but that still means lighten up.

I have a feeling you're one of those "pecking" typers that hammers the screen.

Holy constant trolling man. It's one thing to criticize a company for early QC issues (I personally haven't had any problem, but it's obviously affecting some people here) but to insinuate there's a fundamental design fault by using some crock logic is just so absurd that I don't even know where to begin. Have you actually tried the latest Touch to see if it actually distorts with "a slightest pressure"?

Press

I do not understand why someone would press that hard. I do understand that the video could be made to make sure people are aware that pressing that hard should be avoided.
