Thanks!

I had almost stay up last night to see if they would change their website at midnight. I'm glad I didn't. lol

I respectfully disagree. There is no way they would include an A9 chip in it. The fact that it will look exactly the same shows that their mentality about keeping it behind the iPhone hasn't changed.

Sadly, I agree. I think Apple is making a mistake tho by crippling the iPod. There is absolutely ZERO danger of the iPod touch canabalizing the iPhone, So why not give it some kick ass specs? Get people excited about it again. Give it a camera that equals or even betters the iPhone's. Market it as the new best pocketable camera. Give it something to brag about. People would buy it in droves. Reenergize sagging sales.

I'm still gonna get one, because my iPod touch 5 died, but I hope Apple gives it more than just a faster processor.

A fast processor would be a pretty decent upgrade, though, as the current iPod Touch lags like hell with some games and web pages.

True. I'll take it. But I was just expressing what I think the untapped potential of the iPod touch could be. I think it's still relevant, and can live side by side with the iPhone without keeping it behind it. Apple is just missing a great opportunity here to create something special with the iPod touch. My hope is that they see it too, and not let the touch merely survive, when it can truly thrive.

The Touch would be better than the iPhone if they did that with its much cheaper price.

10:30 here in NYC, and no news. The Apple website isn't down. Maybe that July 14th rumor was just that, a rumor.

Days still early tho. Fingers crossed.

Ha. I love the optimism of this thread

To add a little more, I imagine the 6pm person was in the U.K. 6pm GMT is the usual time of Apple's 10am keynotes. 9minutes...

The post in the other thread says that other silent updates usually happened at 6 AM (Pacific Time). I think it's time to give up hope for a change today.

FWIW I also just noticed that on the Apple home page "iPod" isn't even a category at the top anymore. You have to go to Store and then find iPod....

Well, they can't keep selling the A5-powered iPod Touch much longer. It's PRIMITIVE.

They will either kill the Touch or release a new one.

It's still the 14th. Maybe all the wait is is too much attention was paid to the normal release time.

Not going to happen today but hopefully we get a Touch 6 soon.

All A5 devices will be discontinued by this September.

Wait, don't they do iPods in early September though?

The current 5th Generation still says 1-3 business days for shipment, I would think that we would start to see those increase in length before a new launch.

They used to, they haven't updated the touch in a couple years though so any old patterns don't necessarily mean too much.
