I'm still holding out hope that the Touch will update in the next few months. Even if an updated model is somehow still released today I probably wouldn't buy one until August (but it would be nice to know today that Apple isn't going to let the line die yet). I'm willing to wait however long it takes for updates to happen to the lineup, even if it means waiting until September 2016. The 2012 internals in the fifth gen are just too long in the tooth for me to be excited about buying one. However, if it looks like Apple is going to discontinue the Touch entirely I'll buy a fifth gen as that would at least be an improvement on the 3rd gen I have now.

I'd honestly get a used iPhone 5S or something, that's what I did. I picked up my Sprint iPhone 5S for under $200, and I have Touch ID and an A7 chip (Of course, if the 6th gen doesn't happen).

The current iPod touch has 2011 hardware, and I don't see how Apple can ethically still sell that thing. It's just primitive.

I mentioned this on the other post, but it's possible that the iPods be released until this Thursday, as the 5th generation was released on October 11, 2012 (a Thursday), the rear camera-less model was released on May 30, 2013 (also a Thursday), and the $199 16GB with a rear camera was released on June 26, 2014 (again, also a Thursday).

In other words, the 5th generation release date as well as the previous two "updates" were on Thursdays (I checked in the Buyer's Guide section).

But the picture on the Ipod 5th generation shows Tuesday 9. Maybe then the 6th gen would come on Thursday!

Have apple been able to release a product without photo leaks in recent years? When I see a photo of a pcb or case leaked from a Chinese manufacturing plant I'll believe we're getting a new iPod.
