They're selling like hotcakes btw. There were 3 people in the queue in front of me and they all bought touches.
 
anyone know if Trafford Centre, Manchester has any in? (I can't get through on the phone) I wont be able to get to the Arndale one before 8. GRRR. If only they'd sent out the pre-orders first!
 
I'm on the phone to the online store about my "pre order" now, they are denying that it has been released, and are insiting I'm referring to the classic. I'm now on hold while she checks it out, either way, it doesn't look like I'm getting my touch for at least a couple of weeks...
[.EDIT] They denied that it has been released yet... am phoning back for another rep.

AAARGH!!!!

I'll have to wait until I get home to plug it into the Mac.. that means waiting until rush hour is over at least :mad:

Gonna see what vmware can do for me in the meantime.

edit: Nope, vmware aint compatible either. So it's a mac only device.. dammit (I have about 30 machines to choose from, nearly all virtual. The physical dev machines are of course all 64bit.. so no syncing from work over the vpn...)

Yeah, I phoned back, got another rep who knew exactly what I was talking about and sympathised with my position.
Q. Can they post me one from the physical stores stock. A. No
Q. Can I get my online discount in store. A. Probably not.
Q. Can I get free apple care instead of the discount in store. A. Up to the manager.
Q. Can you put a note on my account to say you have approved this from the online store. A. No.
Q. What else can I do. A. Drive to a store and then cancel with the online store.
Q. Anything else to say? A. Sorry, they are all due to ship out on the 28th.

That's it really. They don't seem like there's much they are prepared to/going to do about this. I'm in Bristol, so my nearest store is hours away, but I will be in London Saturday, if I can keep my online discount or get apple care in its place.

Well it has been loading up my tunes for a while now, USB feels so much slower than firewire!So cant check on the screen properly yet. And does a green battery mean its charged?

Bluewater confirmed both 8 and 16GB models in stock, and they WILL hold them. That said, good luck getting through to them by phone. I tried intermittently over the course of 2 hours before anyone picked up!

I'll argue over discount vs. Applecare etc. when I have it in my hand. Just cancelled my online order.
 
Ok so fully charged and loaded. Been playing with it for 10 mins or so and its great!Typing is a bit of a pain as i keep hitting the wrong button (and I dont have big fingers or anything!). Will take some getting used to. Screen seems fine but gonna have to watch a film etc to fully know!

LONG time reader, first time poster, thought it was time to give something back.

Just been to Meadowhall in Sheffield the DO HAVE STOCK. Picked up a 16gb one. The have had them on display since this aft and sounded like they had a bit in stock as the guy on the counter didn't know if he could sell me one. Gladly he did though!

So far on the Sync in progress screen blacks looking solid although will do further tests once its synced....

I got mine from the Regent St Apple store in London.

I've been playing around for an hour or so and so far so good. The screen seems to be a good one. Blacks seem absolutely fine but I'm just converting 'The Incredibles' to give it a real work-out.

it seems to be a week 37 model as the serial begins 9C737

It's a lovely thing to use. I'm happy!
 
Why on earth aren't online orders shipping yet? I'm 3 hours from the nearest Apple store, so that isn't an option.

Really frustrating.
 
I have got mine!

Just back from the Birmingham (the one in the UK) Bullring Apple store with my 16GB iPod Touch. Phoned them at 5 this afternoon and they said they had stock and would put one aside for me (but only for an hour or so...) Arrived 5:55pm. They looked to have at least a dozen or so in a cupboard behind the tills.... none on display (only one for demo with a Genius). At least three others were sold whilst I was there (10 mins) so word is getting around fast. I logged on to my Apple account and cancelled my pre-order in the store!

It is syncing at the moment - will report back re: any screen issues. Looks good so far!

I rang aswell... got fobbed off with some excuse saying the stores shouldn't have released their stock to the public.

Total Bo****ks if you ask me
