By the time i feel like getting a new iPod, flash will be larger (hopefully) so I will just get a new touch

The only thing I miss is being able to navigate blindly as I drive or while in my pocket. Aside from that the touch is just so cool that downgrading to a click wheel would feel disapointing.

I'm willing to sacrifice the small things for the bigger cooler features of the touch. I won't be going back.

I usually use the Nano when walking/exercizing since the Touch is such a battery hog and I often forget to keep it charged up. The Nano can last two days to the Touch's one day. The Nano is a lot lighter than the Touch which helps when you're carrying it around, but the Touch is a lot cooler.

Even with battery saving measures, the Touch's screen really eats up battery life.

i deffinity like my touch but the nice thing about the click wheel is you can change songs and the volume blindly which is cool

I agree with those who prefer the clickwheel for changing stuff without having to look. For example, if I'm using my nano for listening to a language course, I'm using the pause constantly and don't want to have to look every time. I have a touch and a 1G nano, and when the battery on the nano finally gives up, I shall get another one. Other things the touch is better at.

I don't plan to go back entirely, but there are times when my Touch won't be practical. Usually I can ignore this (and I do), but for times when I can't, I'll be happy to use a Shuffle. Quick and easy, you know? :)

I Miss My Nano

I got an 8GB iPod touch for christmas.......and I love it.....But I really miss my 1gb, 1st gen nano. It was just so easy to use and fits in your hand so nicely. Also I am always worried about breaking my iPod touch. A problem I never had before.

Right now I use my 5th gen for most of my music.
My touch is used for surfing the internet and checking email.

I see the iPods as totally different animals and just can't compare the two.
I only have one album on the touch and almost never use it for music.
I don't like having to look at the screen to navigate my music. I just like to blindly click...Especially, when it comes to the volume.

As much as I've come to love the Touch, sometimes it's just not practical. Sometimes I just want a little iPod with me while out walking or doing errands and not have to worry about lugging around something as large as the Touch... with the Shuffle price drop, I was thinking about picking one of them up to fill this need.

i agree...do it & engrave it with this..."my other IPod is a Touch" :D...i'll wait for the 2g:cool:

I have a 2nd generation Nano which was easier to use at the gym, although I enjoy watching videos on my Touch while doing cardio. I'm debating selling my Nano as I really don't want to have multiple Ipods.

I've currently got a shuffle, 3rd gen nano and a Touch and am firmly of the opinion that they're all fantastic interfaces and form factors in the right circumstances

The shuffle is perfect for the gym, not just because you don't have to be particularly accurate when changing volume or track but, obviously, the lack of screen and simple, tough buttons makes it practically bomb-proof.

The nano is, by far and away, the best of the three for sticking in a pocket and using on the move. Can navigate it blind, small form factor and light weight are perfect when you're on the move and the capacity is bang on too.

The touch, on the other hand, is simply the best PDA I've ever used. Okay, granted, the choice of apps could be better but the standard stuff is stunning, the touch interface is a joy and using it at home when you can relax and truly appreciate that screen and all it offers is an experience that beats any other portable device I've ever used.

That said, I think I'll always have a click wheel device (or equivalent) if possible. I just prefer it for the daily slog and I don't really see how you'd get the Touch technology in a device the size of a Nano. Plus it's a damn sight cheaper if you loose it and less of my life is contained within for someone to 'borrow' ;)

Basically, different tools for different jobs seems like the way to go. Now if Apple brought out a Touch Nano with a click wheel on the back....:D

am i the only one who really hates the volume control on the iTouch???
its really annoying.

other than that, touch features are far better.

excellent point. 99% of the time i'm using it in the car though and just use the headunit to control the volume, but last month i used it on a plane and this is one area where i would have much rather had a click wheel.

YES!! i don't think i'll buy another touch screen ipod (well unless i get an iphone but ipod no WAY) i like switching songs without pulling it out of my pocket.
