I think the difference would be the phone. If iPod Touch has all features except the phone, even if you use Skype to communicate through iPod Touch it won't be as mobile/reliable as iPhone. People who need the a cell phone would get the iPhone, and people like me who don't need the phone, would get the iPod Touch.

I genuinely think at most the new iPod touch will get the compass from the iPhone 3GS and a camera.

I think they'll at least try to match the features of Nintendo DSi and PSP.
Right now Nintendo DSi has a cam so that means they'll include it into the Touch. Because none of them have a built-in GPS your not going to see it.

Basically they don't want people sending in ideas all the while expecting that their idea is being considered when it is entirely possible they already have that idea and are implementing it. The person who submitted the idea could then turn around and sue them for using their idea without permission.
GPS on iPod Touch is probably not going to happen, since its an iPod which is according to Apple: "all-about-the-music".

Yeah, I would think they would add the fingerprint resistant face...I still think (and hope.
) it will have a camera..I doubt the GPS...MAYBE the compass...But I wouldn't count on it..But that would be sweet.
They can have all my ideas and not compensate me

This fall they will add the camera, yes that's accurate...but NO VIDEO.
next year (2010) they will add video, and presumably it will have volume, if not, they will add that the following year (2011).
three years later they will add a microphone (2012).
Yeah, just because they can. And still everyone will be jumping up and down WHATEVER Apple releases.

Who says you have to pay full price for unlocked phones? Unlocked != no subsidy. In Asian countries like Singapore, all subsidized high end phones, including iPhones, are unlocked out of the box. Only American consumers are fooled by the wireless providers that they have to lock the phones to subsidize them.

Yes, that voice recorder app really bothers me, because I know I will never use it. Well unless I get those headphones with a built in mic, but that isn't happening...
iPod touch is NOT all about the music, the iPod shuffle is the only one that can say that, and the nano and classic in a close second.
but of all the iPods, the iPod touch is the least about the music!

I hope that it ends getting expanded to 64gb. Right now I have 56gb of music and I'd love to be able to have an iPod Touch.
It has an accelerometer, probably get the compass (isn't that a magnetometer? - not sure) and the super cool new must have feature... a barometer. I could see the ads already...

Then this will cause a shift in our culture as everyone will be running out to best buy to by the coolest barometer to place next to their GPS in their car. Of course it will have to be placed in the window so everyone knows you have a barometer.
