Following the release of iTunes 12.2 with Apple Music support yesterday, one MacRumors user has discovered graphics depicting iPods in colors not currently offered by Apple. The composite image of an iPod touch, nano, and shuffle is shown when setting up or restoring an iPod in iTunes.

The new colors include a darker blue for the iPod touch, a new gold or beige color for the iPod nano, and a brighter pink color for the iPod shuffle.

Apple has not updated its iPod color lineup in several years, most recently shifting the previous "slate" color to "space gray" back in 2013. Apple has typically updated its iPod lineup during the month of September, although it is unclear whether these new colors are actually in the works and what their release timeframe might be.

Update: Several observers have pointed to the Calendar icon on the iPod touch screenshot showing a date of Tuesday the 14th, leading to speculation the new models could launch on Tuesday, July 14. Readers have also noticed the new image does not depict a wrist strap attachment post as seen in the lower left corner of the current models.

    (Thanks, iPhone.Freak!)

    Perhaps they run iOS 8?
Passbook icon is old. It's not wallet like in iOS 9.
Maybe Apple just changed them because older ones were too old. :p

There is no Touch ID on the iPod touch... Might not be an entirely new model.
    Just a new color perhaps.

I think they will do Gold on all 3 models, the Gold color is very popular around the world. They need to update them, its been too long

All window dressing. Hopefully the nano's price drops and the touch gets a new processor. If so, I would be interested in the latter. And it seems a bit lazy of Apple not to get rid of the glossy, iOS-6 like interface on the nano.

I can say for sure that they do.

Not everyone wants to change their cel phone, but they might want to play with iOS apps and have a nice dedicated music player.

Finally some good colors. Maybe the iPhone 6c/7c won't have god awful neon.

I know a lot of people that are going to be very happy if they refresh the specs of the iPod line.

If they only change colors though, I know those same people will be very disappointed.

Wish I bought a iPod Classic before they stopped being produced. The purpose to have all my music offline and in my bag ready. On eBay their prices are quite high for new & sealed.

There's no Loop attachment on that iPod Touch, either.

Be interesting to see just how strong they make 'em this go-round.
Any improvement's welcome, as I use my Touch in VR a lot.

    Shuffle: $50 to play music.
Nano: $100 upgrade to view pictures and videos on crappy screen with crappy storage.
Touch: $50 upgrade to get a much better screen, a web browser, and the entire freaking app store.

I don't understand the point of the Nano existing. Who is buying it? Is it a mistake that they're buying it? (IE, do they think it's just a cheaper iPod Touch?)
