I could never justify paying a grand for a phone unless I was keeping it at least 3 years and would sooner buy a mid tier iPhone or last years I think.
Talking about the grander scheme of things. My Samsung S2 + Nexus 6p combined cost me a grand (€1050 to be precise). Together, they lasted me about 7,5 years. But the 11pro costs €1160 here, official base price (amazon has it for €1080). You think it would last me 8 years? You can say the 11pro offers more or that the new Samsung s20 has a similar base price, but those two phones I had before were also the top models in their days.
And then they say inflation is low.

Possibly a stupid question but how does a screen protector affect how the pro screen looks? I’ve only used it without one and it is stunning, but can’t help but think a protector would detract somewhat. Any thoughts? Happy to be shot down as it likely is a silly question.

It doesn’t affect the screen quality if you use a tempered glass screen protector with an oleophobic coating.

11 is overpriced imo without those extras. Not the other way around.
It’s all opinion and you buy what you are happy with. There is no universal correct answer to this. Worth is subjective.

I have no idea if the 11 Pro would last 8 years as it boils down to support and hardware reliability. It’s luck of the draw. My 4 month old Apple Watch is faulty, but the version I had before lasted 3 years for me and is still going strong. I’ve had iPhones replaced too in the past and some have lasted years. I only keep an iPhone 2 years personally and don’t buy them outright, so longevity isn’t one of my major concerns. What I do know is Apple tend to support devices longer than most other phone manufacturers.

Get a spigen one with the tray for fitting, good value and you won’t notice a difference, there is cheaper and dearer but I find them good.

A glass protector looks terrible. I've never used one on any of my phones. I prefer the plastic film screen protectors. They are far less noticeable are easy to replace.

In what sense? I don't think they are particularly noticeable a lot of the time. I also like the reassurance that if it gets a little ding or crack, it is £5 to replace rather than several hundreds of pounds.

It's just a personal preference. I'm not rough with my devices so a film protector is all I need. I'm more concerned about scratches than cracking my screen. Plus, it's thinner and the edges are hardly noticeable. I never liked how raised the edges are on glass protectors.

I had the XR when it came out. I originally had the XS Plus but decided it was too big, the negatives outweighed the positives for me. Size was the main factor. Even the XR was too big for me in the end, so I got the 11 Pro when it was released and I love it. Putting price aside, I don't notice too much of a difference with the screen, but it feels like a more premium phone. If the 11 were the size of the 11 Pro, then I'd go with the 11. I don't care about having 3 cameras, nor do I care about the OLED screen. The 11 Pro feels better to me.

I can’t say I agree with that at all. A glass protector is much more durable, feels nicer to use with no resistance on the finger and looks far less like a screen protector in my experience. Glass also protects the screen underneath better due to it being harder and thicker. The days of having bubbles and dirt getting under a plastic film are well and truly over for me thank goodness.

I know we've gone off topic here - Since the new glass for the iphones are supposedly harder. I'm mostly worried about scratching, and that's where I think plastic protectors are enough for me (along with a good case for complete peace of mind). I've had glass protectors on my phones previously, but one random minor drop and it's time to replace the protector. That doesn't happen with plastic.

thats why when you buy glass protectors they usually give you 2-3, i don't use films anymore because they don't resemble the glass texture you get from a phone without any protection. at least with glass protectors you still touching glass.

Also with a glass protector it feels like the actual screen in use whereas a plastic protector feels like you’d expect, a plastic screen. I don’t see a comparison really when you consider a Spigen tempered glass double pack costs just £6, so £3 for each one. A decent plastic protector is around £2 for a much more inferior product.

The 11 is one of the best iPhones Apple has made. I don't feel like it's a lesser phone than the 11 Pros (like many on here are suggesting). Pretty much same specs (especially under the hood) except for screen, additional camera and outerband material.

11 is a great phone. The screen is fine and really nice actually. You really only notice the difference when comparing to an 11 Pro.
IMO the 11 pro is not $300 better.

I personally prefer the iPhone 11 so wouldn’t suggest paying the extra is worth it. There’s just not enough difference to justify the cost for me and I’d rather buy an Apple Watch with the change. Everybody is different though.
That’s a good point. I’d rather have an 11 and Apple Watch then just the 11 pro

Of course there's no universal answer to the question, but after owning the iphone 11 pro for a few months, I can definitely say the higher price was worth it to me. The iphone 11 was too large for me. I like a phone that's compact, and the stainless steel design is so nice and sleek. It looks and feels nice and natural in my hand. Plus I use the portrait lens for taking pictures a great deal.

In the past I've used the plastic type, but when I got the wife and little G new iPhones, I picked up a glass one's made by MaxBoost which were very highly reviewed. They're very thin, 0.25mm, and come with a nice alignment frame (and all the usual cleaners, etc.). The 11 Pro / X / Xs product is ~$12 for a 3 pack, and the 11/Xr are a stellar deal at $7, which is also a 3-pack.

Super clear, and the touch/feel is superb, in fact, I replaced the old plastic protector on my X with one of these and what I thought might have been a hint of touch responsiveness issues, was just the old protector. :)

That’s what it’s all about, getting the phone we feel is the best for what we want. Enjoy
