11: Non-removable Li-Ion 3110 mAh battery (11.91 Wh)

11 Pro: Non-removable Li-Ion 3046 mAh battery (11.67 Wh)

I'd say they'd be neck and neck depending on what you're doing. If you're using dark mode on the Pro. Really the difference comes not from battery life so much as it does the screen type, cameras, and size.

It's LCD VS OLED.
3 cameras VS 4 total.
The 11 is a bit bigger and heavier than the 11 Pro.

Really at this point, it's a matter of which type of screen you'd rather have and if taking photos is a big deal or not.

You’re going to get good results taking photos whether you’ve got an 11 or an 11 Pro. The emphasis is more likely going to be with the person who is taking the photo anyway. There isn’t an iPhone currently on sale that doesn’t give good results in this department.

11 has no 2 x zoom, so will never be as good as the Pro. Try zooming in the same with the 11 and see how crap the photo looks.

I’ve tried it, I don’t think it looks as bad as you’re making it sound. Yes, It’s more grainy with the picture, but to be honest, I rarely zoom in anyways when I’m generally fairly close to the object I’m photographing. If I need to zoom in further than what the iPhone can produce with decent results, then I would rather just use a real camera for those situations—>As in a DSLR.

We get it, the XR and 11 aren’t good enough for your use case. This doesn’t mean it applies to everybody else that owns it though. They are great phones for the most part and with any phone on the market, even the 11 Pro you’ll be able to find a scenario where there is a limitation.

We also get you buy the cheapest 2 year old phone and then bang on about how the top model is not worth the extra $$ lol. Don't get it you don't own any of the current or even last years phones.

No desire to get an Apple Watch (one of the more pointless bits of tech imo) so it’s either 11 and save £300 or pro max.

I do wonder it it is worth just waiting for the 12 now. Same form factor for 3 releases now (x, Xs and 11) so perhaps there will be something new in September. That said, 11 pro max will still be a great phone in 2-3 years.
Any thoughts on this? Apple used the same form factor for the 6, 7 and 8 and then again for the X, XS and 11 - is there any insight to suggest that this is a regular pattern?

no I am a bit thick :) all these phones are overpriced it’s ridiculous really, lucky I can claim gst back and they are a tax write off.
Not everybody is fortunate to be able to get such a discount or sees the need for such an expensive device. This is the beauty of choice in 2020 and long gone are the days of every iPhone user wanting the same model iPhone.

To summarize this hellacious thread based on opinion, subjectivity, and ill-perceived 'facts':
- Some do not justify the $300 difference when in reality it's due to their inability to afford it
- Some do not justify the $300 difference because they don't need the telephoto lens, battery, or OLED.
- Some do not justify the $300 difference because they prefer LCD to OLED or cannot tell the difference.
- Some do not justify the $300 difference because they prefer the 6.1" size and that trumps all
- Some do not justify the $300 difference because they prefer to spend the money elsewhere and don't base their status on a phone

- Some justify the $300 difference because they have to have the latest/greatest Apple has to offer
- Some justify the $300 difference because they actually do believe it's status, and others care what phone they have (I am sorry, but this one is laughable yet prevalent)
- Some justify the $300 difference because they value the telephoto lens, better battery, and OLED
- Some justify the $300 difference based on OLED alone because they can absolutely see the difference in screen quality
- Some justify the $300 difference because their principles won't allow them to own a sub-1080p screen in 2020
- Some justify the $300 difference because it means having either the smallest phone, or largest screen.

I am sure I have missed some outliers, but there you have it folks. 9 pages of strangers tripping over themselves to defend their purchase and claim the prize of being 'right'. Sometimes, I really miss the days when Apple released one device. The glory days when Apple fanboys/girls battled their Android-loving counterparts. Now, our own forum is a cesspool of d.ck measuring based on the choice of iPhone purchased. Sucks.

I think that covers just about everybody’s subjective reason.

Now, which is the correct one? Just kidding lol.

This pretty much sums up every thread on Macrumors lol. Everyone defends their purchase no matter what they buy. I prefer to just say “I bought it because I liked it ”. No need to justify to strangers how you spend your money.

For many it's about justifying the purchase to yourself... not to strangers. This being an internet forum, some come seeking the advice of others because they aren't sure if the extra $300 will be worth it to them. For some of us it is easy to justify the 11 Pro because of a strong desire for the third camera lens, OLED, size, etc. For others it's easy to justify not spending an extra $300 on the Pro because they know they don't want what the Pro is selling. For some it's more difficult. They just aren't sure, and that's what discussions with strangers are for. :) Of course for every well-meaning person seeking or giving advice, there will often be another who just wants to pontificate... and the arguments overshadow the more balanced attempts at giving advice.

I need 4X4 mimo so I will pay $300 more

Good point no one has bought up yet. I am getting better reception than my Xr especially in dodgy areas.

The biggest misconception on here is the assumption people who aren’t tech enthusiasts and not in to photography go for the iPhone 11. Plenty of people who are both opt for the 11. It’s not always about paying top dollar to get the things you are interested in.

Not just that, some people want the smallest current model and some the biggest. 11 is out for them.

I don’t mind someone saying why they prefer their chosen device for whatever reason they do. Your post is well balanced and you kept it civil, nothing wrong with that.

But there are some who try to lord it over others because their device is superior in their minds who stoop to saying mean things. That I don’t agree with. Being helpful is a plus..negative comments aren’t necessary imho.

To Simplify things, OLED is not a selling point for consumers, they don’t care what OLED is and they probably don’t even know the difference between LCD/OLED is. The main reason somebody would want the Pro, is simply for the triple lens camera.

Consumers want value, considering Apple reduce the price by $50, that’s also another attractive point For the 11.

I only want OLED for the better battery life since I usually keep my brightness below 50% and use dark mode/black wallpaper so I assume i'm gonna get a ton of extra battery life on top of the bigger battery already making it better.

Having said that, I have never used OLED and am worried about burn in and the flickering stuff i've heard about, specially at lower brightness which I hear it's more apparent at those levels. Plus the 11 could be good enough considering my usage, at best I watch an episode or two of something on Netflix in a day but I can just charge for 10-20 mins to get that back.

The triple camera is actually no reason for me to upgrade, i'm looking at the OLED battery enhancements, bigger battery...and I guess the fast charger included lol

A smaller model is rumoured to be coming this year in the mid tier so that might change things. I know a few who are still using an iPhone 7/8 because the current model is too big. Changes perhaps on the horizon.

Will be a smaller cheaper 11, 11 pro is not much bigger than the 8 now with everything. 8 to XR/11 is way bigger, i did it.

Yeah but the disadvantage of the 11 Pro is the £999 starting price. That’s a lot of money for a phone and a hard sell to the mainstream average consumer who isn’t in to phones. It’s a hell of a premium just to get a smaller phone and perhaps why many haven’t bothered.

Nah, i had a non tech relo update over xmas from a 7 plus, she got the 256gb pro max, just wanted the biggest iPhone available, wanted SG all she could get was gold, didn't care or even know about any of the extras it had over the 11, as an example.
All i said was it's the biggest iPhone with the best camera and she went and got it, i set it up. Didn't care or doesn't even know what the phone was worth, same monthly $$ with more data as the 7 plus was all she cared about.
Didnt even look at a 11 lol. Not everyone goes cheap.
