I was looking at my co worker's XR and comparing it size wise today to my Pixel 2 XL and there wasn't much of a size difference, slightly smaller, and the XR was noticably heavier.

Size and weight will play a big role for my next phone and I already decided I am going iPhone. I want a smaller phone after four bigger phones.

I have a strong feeling I will go 11 Pro. I keep thinking maybe I should hold off for the 12 Pro 6.1 but I'm thinking even with the smaller bezels it will be heavier than the regular 11 and not that much smaller.

I wish I wasn't so picky but I'm a tech/phone junkie.

In Germany you can get the AW 5 LTE for 480€ and the Bluetooth version for 400€. Its one of the best sport watch. Throwaway watch or throwaway phone in 4 years is the same. So for me its the best option to get the AW 5 and iPhone 11 128gb. For me i switched to Apple because of the AW.

Personally I’d get the 11 and save the money or use that money toward an iPad mini or Apple Watch, idk.

No desire to get an Apple Watch (one of the more pointless bits of tech imo) so it’s either 11 and save £300 or pro max.

I do wonder it it is worth just waiting for the 12 now. Same form factor for 3 releases now (x, Xs and 11) so perhaps there will be something new in September. That said, 11 pro max will still be a great phone in 2-3 years.

I only say as the third camera on the pro is suggested to be better in certain situations like low light mainly. The two other cameras on the 11 are the same as the Pro with identical quality supposedly in outdoor well lit situations. What does Pro stand for? I’ve never seen an accurate explanation other than it being a name convention for Apple.

The third camera isn't for low light. It's for a wide angle for getting more into a shot. Especially useful for when you can't physically move back.

I used to feel this way and I was completely wrong.

Maybe, but I don’t even wear a watch other than when running so see no need. Literally always have my phone so unsure why having a tiny version of my phone on my arm is worthwhile !

I miss the "telephoto" lens that was on my X but not on my 11. I tend to zoom in more often than zoom out.

Both the 11 and the 11 Pro have the ultrawide lens. The third lens on the Pro and Pro Max is the longer focal length of the three.
  • iPhone 11 has ultrawide and wide lenses
  • iPhone 11 Pro/Pro Max has ultrawide, wide, and telephoto lenses
The telephoto is actually more of a normal focal length in photography terms... neither wide nor tele, but it provides the pro cameras with more room to digitally zoom (crop) into telephoto range. Apple describes it as giving you 10x digital zoom on the Pro vs 5x on the 11.

The primary lens (standard wide angle) is the best low light lens at f/1.8 (it also has a larger sensor than the telephoto) so both have it, but the Pro is advertised as having dual optical stabilization. I think they just mean both cameras are stabilized for slow shutter speeds, but you will still get motion blur if your subject is moving. Both iPhone 11 and 11 Pro have Night Mode, but again that won’t stop motion blur.

I would think that more camera sensors and lenses would mean more computational photography advantages, but I’m not sure Apple is using data from all three cameras in such a way. Maybe in the future they will.

This is an important point to consider, as the Pro series gives you the 10x zoom. With the iPhone 11 you can always digitally zoom up to 5x for a narrower telephoto field of view (just not as far as with the pro) or zoom with your feet if the situation allows it. Apple made a good call by putting the wide and ultrawide on both 11 and 11 Pro series, because you can’t digitally zoom to a wider field of view. You can get there only with an optical wide angle or by stitching multiple shots (panorama mode).

I’m a big fan of ultrawide, but I also find the wide and normal lenses to be very useful. As a photographer I have paid hundreds of dollars for a single focal length before.:) That said, if I had to choose two of the three it would be the ultrawide and wide configuration of the iPhone 11.

I got the iPhone 11 Pro last week... partly because I wanted the extra lens, and partly because I prefer the 5.8 inch form factor. I like both LCD and OLED just fine. The camera system is indeed an upgrade from the iPhone X... especially in low light. Having the ultrawide, and the ability to crop wider on your wide and normal shots, is very nice. I haven’t had a chance to test it out too much, but so far I like it.

None of them really worth the money we all pay. The service and the quality went down. The unbreakable glass screens break and to replace them you have to pay extra 300$. My phone was recently stolen and they told me I will lose my iCloud data that I paid for years over one payment that I cannot make because I am still waiting for my bank cards to arrive to where I live now.

I would go for the 11. It's cheaper and it shows the same amount of content as the 11 Pro Max (source), which means it's basically a "Max" or "Plus" phone at the lowest price point. Also, battery life is better compared to the pro.

Summarizing:
  • Cheaper
  • Better battery life
  • "Plus" phone that shows exactly the same amount of content as 11 Pro Max

Doesn't the 11 Pro have better battery life than the 11? Maybe I'm wrong.

Of course, everything about it is better. The 11 is Apples new budget phone. Not even a good as the 8 plus.

I mean the 8+ is a great phone and is my current daily driver, but I couldn’t agree the 11 is worse as a phone. Your statement doesn’t paint a very good comparison to the 11 Pro seeing as the 11 is 95% the same phone.

what took you, not sure why you need to comment on everything I say?

lol 95% . It’s not even the same size, thickness or weight. You don’t even own a xr, 11 or pro, the 8 plus threads died have they?

I only comment because you keep making the same claims over and over again about the 11, in your opinion being such a crap phone. I’m just countering it because I think you say these things just for effect. I’m sure you’d be disappointed if nobody responded ;). You’re right I don’t own an XR, an 11 or an 11 Pro, but I do use the XR everyday as a works phone so know it very well. I think I told you that before? Not sure why you hate it so much and feel you need to put it down to the people that do enjoy it?

The 8+ threads have pretty much died on here you’re right. What more can we discuss about it? It’s probably the most established and reliable iPhone that’s been made to date. Nobody complains about it and it’s features are common knowledge. It’s been done.

PS: I still can’t believe you pay $700 for the entry level AW, that’s extortionate. The iPhone 11 must be over a $1k where you are too!

I have never said it’s crap. And I did have a xr for 8 months and my wife still has one. If your anolgy is right you could of just got a 6 plus instead of 8 plus, or Xr instead of 11, 95% same phones.

11 64gb is $1199AUD. 256 $1449. 11 pro 256 $1999. Definitely worth the $550 extra over 2 years to me.

Funny those in the pro case thread have probably spent more than $300 on cases, their not arguing over $300 on the cheaper 11 Or pro.

You didn’t use the word ‘crap’ but your insinuated statements suggest it. The 11 isn’t a budget phone by any stretch of the imagination otherwise it would be cheap and marketed as such. I think my analogy is right but I was referring to the 11 vs the 11 Pro not other models specifically. It works for them too and probably why the XR was being touted as the biggest selling iPhone over Xmas due to the deals.

I hadn’t realise you were quoting Australian dollars and it looks like you get these devices cheaper than Europe. Not suggesting what you find worth it is wrong either. We all buy what we want at the end of the day and some of us find worth where others don’t see the point. This whole thread demonstrates people who will happily pay the premium for the Pro and those who don’t see the advantage of the additional features. That’s life.

I thought the 5.8 Pro had better battery life than the 6.1 11. That's not the case?

11: Non-removable Li-Ion 3110 mAh battery (11.91 Wh)

11 Pro: Non-removable Li-Ion 3046 mAh battery (11.67 Wh)

I'd say they'd be neck and neck depending on what you're doing. If you're using dark mode on the Pro. Really the difference comes not from battery life so much as it does the screen type, cameras, and size.

It's LCD VS OLED.
3 cameras VS 4 total.
The 11 is a bit bigger and heavier than the 11 Pro.

Really at this point, it's a matter of which type of screen you'd rather have and if taking photos is a big deal or not.
