It's fairly simple.
Assuming you are in the US, and you can afford $500, get the 64GB.
If you can only afford $400, get the 16GB. If you find that it's not enough, return it, save up till you reach $500, and get 64GB.

The beauty in the US is there's a return period. You don't have to feel so bad picking the wrong size early on. So I would just pick 16GB and see if you can live with it.

I think 16GB could work for the OP.

I've used 8GB iPhones since 2008 and have never had major storage problems.

The difficulty is when someone says they like taking photos because it isn't certain what this means. I read someone else on the thread mention that photos could be 4MB each. If you allow 8GB for photos, that's 2000 photos - that's a hell of a lot. Not to mention that Optimise iPhone Storage can further increase that.

Is the OP someone who likes taking pictures to that magnitude?

Hey everyone,

New to the forums and looking forward to meeting and interacting with all the great people on here. I'm in the market for my first i phone (SE).

I don't know which SE model to go with 16 or 64. I'm learning towards 16 because it's cheaper and my needs are as follows;

-Run 10-12 apps
-Little to no games
- Couple of gigs of music (2-4)
- Like taking pictures

Will 16 gb be enough for my needs?
My wife's iPhone 5S, a 16 Gb model, has 6 Gb of free storage with an usage similar to your.
BTW the point you should consider is the last one you wrote: U like taking pictures. The SE has a better camera, and support for 4K videos. That could fill up your iPhone quite soon.

Depends.. for my mother maybe is enough.
But I would not feel happy unboxing a 16GB iPhone. It's like a prison.. A feeling that you will not enjoy the phone the maximum as you could

Don't do it to yourself you will regret it. You should go for 64 GB . I have a 32 GB iPad and my app selection is limited because of storage.

Even my mom couldn't live with just 16GB. She likes taking a lot of photos and videos and she wants them readily accessible on her phone. Going the iCloud route would just mean even more expensive cellular data overages.

It's enough for me, since I utilize iCloud and streaming for my music.

Most people who take pictures with their phone don't bother to take them off it and back them up. I guess this is your type. Then you should get the 64GB. Also I would recommend to buy a real camera for photos.

16 GB will be enough for that.

I have 45 apps, 940 photos and 128 songs on my 6 (with 64 GB) and am using 15.5 GB.

Bear in mind that a 16 GB iPhone will have maybe 13 GB free after the OS is installed. So your usage should fit at the moment.

I would say no it's not enough. My iPad Air is 16GB and has very few apps on it, no photos or music yet is constantly reminding me it's nearly full. I would suggest going for the 64GB as you'll have no worries over space for a considerable time.

Get the 64GB version. Until Apple starts setting the minimum [32GB Like their current iPad Pro(s) base storage]... 16GB is definitely unusable unless you use the phone solely for calling/texting with little to no app [2 or less]... Apps easily can take a GB or two [especially the essential ones]... Factor in the data + documents you accumulate from opening attachments, and it adds up quickly.

16 is useless, just like the SE
Jus like random comments to stick it to SE even when it has nothing to do with anything.

Depends on how many photos someone takes as well.

I agree 16gb is pretty limited but how is the SE useless? It's an appealing size to a certain element of the market and the specs look pretty good. What about it is useless in your opinion?

The existence of the SE somehow makes his life a misery, so he feels the need to constantly bash it on here.

In regards to the original question, it never hurts to go with the higher capacity model - always better to have extra storage than not enough and you'll probably get a better resale value if you ever choose to sell it :)
