BS. They never disclose the ram capacity. You are confusing it it some other companies who race for specs and suck regardless.

They don't disclose the amount of RAM because its not something they can brag about. They didnt have a problem disclosing the bits (64) of the processor. Publicly saying they have less then the competition (regardless if it matters) serves them no purpose.

I can almost hear Tim talking about RAM once they they introduce more if nothing else just to touch on it for the shareholders and geeks. Going into more depth about it if they introduce a feature like memory compression like in OSX.

It tough to read these post from some people on here. We should be encouraging Apple to do better not defending everything they do.

Not saying the iPhone needs more RAM but we can offer constructive criticism without bashing Apple.

These post are becoming very reminiscent of the blackberry forums. Nuff said. lol

Does it really matter if a device that overall sucks have 4GB of RAM?

There will be plenty of devices that will indeed function poorly despite having 4GB's of RAM. But there will be some that will work very well because of it.

The new iPhones sound like they run just fine. However, with no update to the amount of memory since the iPhone 5--I can't help but wonder how long that will be the case, no matter how much the OS is optimized.

Maybe Apple can wedge one of the sticks next to the volume buttons for additional structural support.

Same with CPU speed and the number of cores. Though they may have mentioned the 4-> 4S transition included more cores...

Need more RAM. My 6 Plus is crashing and stuttering all over the place. Tap photo button in Messages and crash. I have to select and copy from Photos and then paste.

Kind of sad that were crossing our fingers for 2 gb next year when plenty of phones coming out next year, even early next year, are going to have 4gb.

Apple needs to pick it up here, their CPUs are very good as are their GPUs but the amount of ram they include is pathetic. They could have been the first phone manufacturer to make a phone with 4gb of RAM, either in the 5s or the 6. Dissapointing.

Imminent for a phone that is a year away with the 6/6+ just released. Ok, whatever.

I would actually prefer to see an iOS Safari optimization that dedicated RAM to the active Safari tab, thereby ensuring if you leave Safari for any period of time, when you return, Safari will only reload a tab if you switch tabs but will maintain the active tab without reloading it. I think that would be a welcome compromise. I for one prefer better battery life to increased RAM that depending on other background tasks and saved state apps may actually not solve the tab reloading issue.

Right. The trouble with the self proclaimed "power users" will be that it's never enough anyway, so it really doesn't matter.

Say I'm a "power using" RAM whiner, and I really hate that if I open 8 Safari tabs to subscribe to 8 different pron sites at the same time, my information reloads on those tabs. Then I get 2GB of RAM. Hooray right? Nope, because I want to be able to have 16 pron site enrollment applications open at once (don't ask me why either, I just do... remember, I'm a "power user"). Sure, I could enroll in pron sites from my desktop, or do one at a time, but I want to do all 16 at once, and Apple is preventing me from doing so by ONLY putting in 2GB...

They act like 2GB is some magic bullet that will just make every issue they're having go away. Sure, it might improve things for the .001% of people with RAM issues now if they don't change their habits at ALL (that's probably an accurate number by the way), but it will only last long enough for them to find ANOTHER way in their "power usage" to utilize the extra RAM and start complaining again.

It'll be nice for the weeks leading up to the launch I suppose :p

Real nice insults and strawmanning there bud.

5 or 6 tabs are enough to cause reloading and even crashing, that's according to anandtech. Furthermore I have personally tried this and while my results are less credible I have had reloads with just one or two, if you go and simply use the camera and a couple other apps you will get reloads with that little of tabs open on safari. You're deliberately misinterpreting the issue so hard it's just sad.

"People want more sometimes so let's never give them anything"

Bravo! So why did apple even bother moving away from 256mb!?

Of course the 6S will have 2GB of RAM. The only reason the 6 doesn't, is because they need to have something worth upgrading. Other than just a bit better camera and a bit faster CPU...

And they'll make it seem totally awesome and amazing. An iPhone, now with 2 GB of RAM!!!

LOL very doubtful. I hope you were being sarcastic. The same was said just before the 6 Plus was announced.

If the IPad Air 2 has 2gb, then the iphone 6s plus will have 2gb also. The iphone 6s will only have 1gb in my opinion.

No, iOS and iPhone are so optimized for each other, that folks at :apple: are thinking about reducing RAM to 640KB. This oughta be enough for everybody.

i do really hope that they reduce the RAM, apple always come with a big surprise, less ram but working better than others.

That would be the ultimate middle finger to Samsung. iPhone 6S Plus beating the Galaxy S6 in benchmarks and "obstacle courses" with a paltry 512MB while the Galaxy struggles with 4GB of RAM.

The battle for the highest specs is something Apple can not win and they will always be behind. Apple want their customers to focus on the user experience and not on the spec side of their devices (the opposite of what happens on Android platform) Mentioning the ram capacity on the keynote would be against their philosophy.

Until it becomes a bottleneck, which it clearly is, especially on a device that renders images for cache at a much higher resolution (6 Plus)

----------

6 Plus is like iPad 3. I will be surprised if 6 Plus isn't laggy on iOS 11.

Given that it can occasionally lag slightly on iOS 8, I would expect it to get worse, not better, over time with major updates.

Ram isn't sexy. The average public doesn't know what it means or what it does. Apple knows this so I doubt that will be a 'blockbuster' feature of the 6S.

RAM isn't about benchmarks good god....
