Muscle cars would be everywhere for dirt cheap (even Hemis, etc.) as the gas crisis and the government was just putting the final nail in the coffin for them, so that would be freaking awesome...

...but then you'd have to look towards living in the 80s afterwards, *shudder*

No thanks.

I've found a slight flaw with my plan to go back to 1966. If I was my age now when I went back I'd be 92 in 2011.

That's almost as old as iJohnHenry.

I lol'd. :D

I might do it for a day (invest in the right stocks, etc.), but to live there? Not a chance.

Why not?

1. No internet, or even home computers. I got my first hand-held calculator around 1975, and most of my friends had never seen one before.

2. No microwave ovens.

3. No cable TV. Three channels of nothing to watch isn't as good as 250 channels of nothing to watch. The TV shows of the time pale in comparison to today's, IMO.

4. 70's porn. I've never seen so much fur, and I've been to the zoos in both Fort Worth AND San Diego.

5. I was a kid in the 70's, but I don't remember it as a happy time - everything seemed gloomy all the time. It wasn't until the 80's that I started to have a good feeling about life in general, and it just got better from there.

6. No Happy Meals. For that matter, none of the fast-food joints had any kind of Value Meals.

LOL.
Pretty well rounded list overall though.
