I recently got a refurb 2015 15" w 2.2 ghz, 16GB and an SSD. I've had it for a few weeks, seems plenty fast for me. I turned the brightness to max and its plenty bright, why would I want it any brighter? I actually turn it down a couple notches.
Step back:
no magsafe
fewer ports
one of the ports required for recharge
less battery time
dongles necessary for current accessories
keyboard keys have far less travel
no speed improvement
Enjoy your 2015, the last generation of a design is also matured and tend to have the least issues.

I can agree on the price part and even that some people may prefer certain things from the 2015 - but when it comes to the "least issues" - isn't the 2015. the MBP with most GPU failures since the MBP went retina?
Also, people who think the new one is superior in every way aren't necessarily biased. Some people value different things - for example, one may consider the ports or keyboard as a step back while the other may consider them better.
I'm aware of my 2012 having an official repair program for GPU, was not aware of the 2015, can I ask what you are basing your conclusion on?
I don't know if for a fact, it was a genuine questionI remember reading that M370X was overheating and suffered failures, but could be wrong. I really was asking, not claiming anything.
Not that I am aware, it could be true, maybe others know. I'll have a google
You got me worried , I decided to keep my 2015I wouldn't - actively searching for issues usually ends up finding some. Forget it, I'm sorry I said it!
I don't believe there's a 2016 with only a 128GB SSD - the minimum 2016's ship with is a 256GB SSD (based on the listed specs). In your post above, you indicate that it's the 2015 with the 128GB SSD?

I liked every feature of 2016 rMBP/TB, but sticking to my mid-2015 just because of reliability issues with battery, touchbar glitches and other things that are usual for first-gen products. And, frankly saying, for me there is almost no added benefit right now to jump to 2016 model. Will wait 2-3 years, and hope for 32/64Gb RAM and OLED![]()
2015 is better for the following reasons:
Price
Ports
Magsafe - I have just had the machine for around a month and magsafe prevented it from falling on the floor at work.
Keyboard
No gimmicky touchbar
Normal sized trackpad
Superior battery life.
It is more of a pro machine.
If you want to upgrade then try waiting for the next iteration, Apple failed miserably with this launch, just check the reaction from less biased sources, you will generally get highly biased opinions here.
We waited a record amount of time almost for this upgrade, and this product still seems rushed. Usually when a product is launch, you don't expect it to take so many significant steps back and only offer a marginal increase in performance most people won't even notice. 2015 is tried and tested, 2014 is a good option too. The only 2016 model I would consider is the 13 inch without the touch bar, it seems decent for the price.
No one who bought the 2016 is going to say anything previous was better. Too afraid of buyer's remorse.
After using the 2016, I'm glad I bought the 2015 earlier this year instead of waiting. Would have been so disappointed
That's a 2015... Apple still sells it. That's crazy confusing/underhanded on Apple's part - they should clearly note the model year. But that's not how Apple rolls.

Obnoxious and arrogant comment. Could not wait to see all incoming problems experienced by early adopters coming to the this poster. For me its inferior in just about every way to the 2016 15" tMBP
Obnoxious and arrogant comment. Could not wait to see all incoming problems experienced by early adopters coming to the this poster.Seconded. I'm pleased the OP is content with his/her selection but let's be frank - it's a regressive purchase.
The screen of the new tMBP is significantly brighter. I don't know why anyone would overlook the most important part of the system in the screen. I have both machines and I absolutely love the new screen.
Macworld claims a "speed boost" on the order of 3 or 4% for nt16 over 15. That's not a speed improvement that anyone would ever notice.

You've prematurely jumped the barrel there. It doesn't take much to see from my posts thst I acknowledge faults with the 2016s and espouse the view that whatever works for one person won't work for another - hence my saying I'm happy for the OP. What I don't agree with is the torrent of people stating the 2015 is simply the better machine and then using tenuous anecdotal 'evidence' like dongles/MagSafe/speed assumptions/battery to support the fact as though it's undeniable.
If you take the time to look on here you'll note that in general, it's people with bizarre almost personal gripes against the 2016 model who jump in with massively overblown statements just to justify their purchase of old machines - spin it all you want but the 2015 is an old machine as per all the simultaneous moaning about 'waiting so long for the 2016 and this is all we get' etc. Not to mention the fact that most people are investing in refurbished machines which is in itself not an advantage other than in pricing.
On my part, none of these discussions are brought with malice but I'm afraid if someone is free to criticise the purchase of my $3000 2016 machine knowing many like myself have just invested, the converse discussion is perfectly reasonable to provide balance.
Also, chill out.
Oh, I automatically assume everyone is talking about the 15". I honestly have no idea how the nonTB 13" works or compares to the previous one, but from what I gather, the GPU is significantly faster (andt CPUs just don't improve at any noticable rate anymore. so a few % is expected).
As for the 15", the GPU is significantly faster, SSD is twice as fast, RAM is a bit faster and CPU, while only slightly faster, doesn't throttle as much, so even there you get a speed boost. In every way, the 15" is faster than the previous generation, and that's what I meant.
The problem is, these advantages are in fact undeniable, and are not tenuous or anecdotal. The lack of magsafe is not 'anecdotal.' The need for dongles is not tenuous or anecdotal. The lack of a speed difference is documented through objective benchmarking. The difference in battery life, esp. with the tb is not anecdotal, it's well documented.
These are all indisputable facts documented in multiple objective reviews you can easily find.
Like you, I'm a pretty serious photographer so I calibrate my monitors and that requires turning the brightness way down. Much lower than most folks would use. How is a brighter screen of value?
I don't know what type of shooting you do, but....
1) Calibration is only useful for setting curves/levels.
