Is 38mm for females or just smaller wrists?

Check the dimensions of the print out. Mine was off by a millimeter or two. The 38mm seems to wear about like a DateJust, which I think will work for me.

I measured it. It was bang on.

If I get the leather loop, it doesn't matter as I have to have the 42mm.

All depends on the pricing . . .

No doubt, Apple's paid advertisements and photo shoots will promote the iWatch for the reasons I cited. However, cruise on over to any one of the dozens of Internet style forums for women and you will find that the overwhelming majority of female posters consider the first-generation iWatch to be nerd/geek toy for men.

Personally I wouldn't use a style forum to get the most non-biased responses. Wait until the public get their hands on the Apple Watch.

Just like the posters on these forums do not represent the majority of people who own iPhones.

They don't need "most women" to buy this. They need "enough" to justify continued production.

The 38mm is not for women because it is too large (and thick) for most women. The Apple Watch is 67% thicker than an iPhone 6. Think about that for a moment.

Although larger watches are in style for men, that is not the case for women. Just look through one of your wife's/girlfriend's style magazines. What type of watch do you see on all of the skinny models? Small watches, typically 30mm or less. In the style magazine articles that recommend accessories for women, what sort of watches do they recommend? Watches with small faces.

My watch is a analog watch face on bangle bracelet type band..... I get nasty rashes on my wrists due to leather/plastic bands. Less about aesthetics for me ... more about itchy annoying allergic reactions.

The Apple Watch will be a male geek status symbol, much like Google Glass, because there is no version that most women can pull off. Bigger boned, 5'8 and taller women can probably pull off the 38mm iWatch, but the average woman is 5'4 in the U.S. and closer to 5'2 in Asia and Latin America.

This is sounds like the iPhone 6/6+ for petite women debate........

Rubbish. I have a white iPhone 6 Plus and iPad Air 2. My previous 5S and Air were also white. White is just as much a colour for men as it is for women. I see just as many women with black phones and tablets as men too so there is no reason why either gender should not have devices of either colour.

Female here. My last iPhone was black - because that was the only color offered for our corporate phones, and the same was true for my iPad. They both worked fine even after the chromosome tests.

I have a a small wrist (female). I'm still going 42mm. I love the chunky watches. I have a few watches now that are 42mm that I love. I like them big as long is isn't bulky looking.

Wait! I think I remember you. You also thought the 6 plus would work. And that gave me confidence to get that one instead of the 6. Which I love, BTW...thanks!

Now I have to reconsider getting the 38mm. I like chunky watches too, but this one is so thick...hmmm, if kupkakez is thinking 42mm, I'd better think some more :)

I'm a 6'2" male, bought an iPhone 6, and I'm planning on the 38mm Watch. Guess I'm more feminine than I realized.

I'm 6'2" as well haha, but I wish I got a 6+ Instead of a 6 and I will be going with a 42mm instead of a 38mm :)

Your pants aren't tight enough. I kinda wish the iPhone 6 was smaller. That's why I need a Watch...it's a pain to get my iPhone 6 out of my pockets! :eek:

Better check the March edition of Self and Vogue, both women't magazines I believe. Your GF must be keeping old issues near the toilet. :D

Apple paid for those spreads.

Nope. If Apple paid for them then those magazines would have to acknowledge it... legally, from an income reporting perspective, and ethically from a journalistic one. When an advertiser pays for an editorial the publications clearly notes it as such.

for both males and females with relatively small wrists.

Sorry, but no. That's not how photo spreads in fashion magazines work. They don't say when they are paid to feature a particular accessory on a model.

As far as being paid to show the Apple Watch, I'm just going by what has been reported on CNBC, which is that Apple IS PAYING fashion magazines to show models wearing an Apple Watch. I don't know about specific examples.

Nope. Wouldn't be the first time a CNBC guest was wrong. I remember Mark Cuban railing against Google saying "click fraud" was going to bring it down. That was back when GOOG was $200 (pre split) a share.

Apple may be paying for ads in those magazines and that might influence editors but the business side and content side of respected publications is separate. If the editorial content of fashion (or any other) magazine could be bought and paid for so easily the publication would lose all cred. as an independent opinion leader... it would be viewed as a puppet of the sponsor.

But for argument sake lets agree the spreads were paid for by Apple. What exactly is your point? The effect to the target audience -- that its fashion for being featured in the magazine -- doesn't change. That was my original point to the OP... not sure if you were him or not. (Of course if the Vogue or Self reader knew the magazine editors were just catalogers not curators the magazine would have less influence).
