I've always gotten by with 16gb but I also don't have hundreds of songs on my phone... Maybe 100-200 at most.

I don't store movies on my phone either... maybe put 1 or 2 on if I'm going on a plane or something.

I have A LOT of pictures which take up space. Apps can eat away a lot of space too, but even after a year or so of breaking in the phone, I will always still have 3-5gb left over out of my original 16 (which is actually really like 12-13gb of actual space I think)

If you have a lot of music, movies, and apps then you need the 64gb. Otherwise, 16gb is honestly perfect for me.... although I really wish they would've made 32gb the standard (especially for the 6 Plus). It does seem kind of weird having the 6 Plus and only 16gb of storage haha

16 gb has worked great for me for the last three years. I keep about 4gb of music on my phone at all times, I clear out all photos and videos about twice a week (once they're uploaded to facebook there's really no need for me to keep them on my phone) I also only tend to keep essential apps on my phone. The iPads are for games.

I couldn't do 16GB. I'm constantly up against the wall with my 32GB but had intended to stay there because of price so 64GB was a very pleasant surprise.

I use to max out my phone at 16gb. But that was all music and now I stream more than I play. I need a program like audio galaxy again.

Goodness, do that many people have thousands of songs on their iPhones???

A few hundred I could understand... but there is no way in hell people are actually listening to the 3,000+ songs they have stored on their phone hahaha

I planned to spend $100 more for a 32gb iphone but Apple make this unexpected move so to me upgrade to a 64gb is a no brainer

Is this really the case? I compared the 16gb and 64gb models of the 5 and 5s on Gazelle and eBay and the difference between them ranged from $20-40 on average. Kind of disappointing considering the 64gb cost $200 more back then. I wonder how the 6 will fare in a year or two...

Well Gazelle is a joke. They never offer market value.

And eBay right now is a buyer's market... not a good time to be selling.

It's terrible.
No. Why are you alway so absolute with your answers. For some people 16GB is just fine. I rock an 8GB iPhone1. 8GB - hear that??????? And it's totally fine for me. It's all up to what you use the device for.

I have been using iPhones since it was first introduced. I have never needed/felt I needed more space than 16gb.

The reason, I keep things organized/slim/simple. Photos & Videos are things I know I will never look at once I upload the best ones to Facebook/Instagram so I just download them directly to my MBA and empty the gallery once a month.

Only time I get to listen to music is when I am driving so I sync my complete library with my ipod in my SUV instead keeping my favorites on the iPhone during flights/random use of the subway.

Mobile gaming doesnt peak my interest - I never play games more than just the first few times, saves me money and space.

I wish I could keep movies (mkv, avi format) and shows on the device but with Apple, the process is just too annoying - so no space wasted there too.

iPhone's primary use for me is browsing & gmail (which was painful for the small size) but with the iPhone6 Plus, it should be a fantastic experience moving forward, thats what Nilay confirmed on his review @theverge. Will find out day after tomorrow :)

I figured I'd have enough space with 16gb (also because I'm saving money), though I have a 32gb iPhone 4 now which I thought is barely anything on. But after I checked i saw that over 20gb were filled already even though I didn't take all that many photos, no videos (since with my iPhone 4 everything just takes aaages), not a lot of apps and only a small amount of my music library loaded on there.

Since with the new phone and being able to makes better photos/videos and also faster I'm probably gonna use the camera much more often, so I'm gonna go with the 64GB model this time around.

Because he asked for opinions, and I gave mine. 16GB is terrible. Am I not entitled to my opinion?

16GB is terrible for YOU. Some people will say 16GB is just right for them and that 64GB is more than they need.

Stating your opinion is alright, but they way you write you make it sound like everyone saying otherwise is wrong.

I don't have a problem with a 16 gb phone. After deleting all of the apps today that I never used on my phone, I have 6 gb of space left. Before that I had about a gig of space left. I stream my music, and I don't watch videos on my phone. I have a few short video clips and a lot of pictures.

Pretty much the same thing here. I got like 500 photos and 1000 songs and a lot of apps and still got about 2 GBs left on my 5. I wanted to get a 64 GB for the 6 but didnt have the money at time...oh well I think i can manage like in the past

16GB is really 12GB of free space.

The girlfriend's incoming 6 is 16GB, and from experience I know she'll fill that with photos really fast as she's poor at managing her files. Her 4S is 16GB and it's always maxed out which slows it down.

12Gb of free space in 2014/2015 is a bit tragic, but there's lots of people who will never use even that much. Some folk just don't put a lot of media on their device or take pics.

16gb here. Photos are what take up all of my space, and if I move them off the phone once every few months (like I should), 16gb is plenty. And I didn't feel like spending any money. With the Verizon trade-in promo, I should get $200 for my wife's 8gb iPhone 4, making me even (not counting screen protectors, cases, accessories, upgrade fee, lost productivity at work, etc. :)

Question: "Is the 16GB iPhone so bad?"

Answer #1: "it's terrible".

Ok, so...

Answer #2: "It's terrible for me and anyone who buys it is wrong, and only I'm right because I got 128GB".

Now, can someone PLEASE explain to me how any reasonable person can take answer #1 and translate it into answer #2??????? This appears to go beyond English reading comprehension. There seem to be some underlying insecurities causing all these hurt feelings.

this is my problem. Decided against our 16GB iPhones. Just listed them on Craigslist and will be camping Apple for unlocked t-mobile phones.

Depends on how much media you keep on the device. If you're all spotify, Netflix, and amazon instant video, you may not need more. I have much less of a need for local storage than I used too.

With none or a small music collection, 16GB is not bad at all for just apps. Google does it all the time with 16GB.

It depends on your tastes in apps. Gamers might feel constrained. Some games are over 1GB each. Also pictures and videos take up a lot of room. Some Google phones have a SD card slot to increase storage. Once you get an iPhone, that's it. If you want more space, you need to buy a new iPhone.

And eBay right now is a buyer's market... not a good time to be selling.

Well will it be a buyer's market in two years? Is that in relation to the iPhone upgrade cycle or just the market in general? And I know Gazelle is a lower offer, but still, only a $10 bump for each size? That's really small.

Well anytime you've got an unusually disproportionate number of sellers to buyers it's basic Economics 101... price falls as supply surpasses demand. I'd say once the mass of people upgrading and selling their old passes, it'll go up a lot, but not like in the past.

And if you sell a 16 vs 32 or 32 vs 64 gb on eBay or CL, you'll notice a lot more value. Gazelle just low-balls, so the difference between models just goes to show what a joke they are. If you're looking for a no-hassles, zero risk way to get a guaranteed amount, Gazelle or Apple Store or Best Buy trade ins are good. But if you want to sell it for actual market value, skip the middle man and use eBay, or CL.

I have a 16gb i5s and its horrible. I am constantly managing my stuff. iCloud doesn't help. I have no idea why iPhoto takes up space when its in the cloud.

Yeah I've been thinking I screwed up by getting my wife a iP6 16gb gold scheduled for 9/19. She has always has a 16gb but maybe a 64gb would have made more sense. She could probably care less. How available do you folks think a iP6/64gb gold will be over the weekend? They didn't go on 7-10 days on Apple.com for a couple of days after pre-ordering.

I think he meant that answer 2 should be something more like:

"It's terrible for me because I have a lot of songs and apps and store a lot of photos and videos. If you stream most of your music and movies and don't take too many videos/photos and sync them every now and then, then 16GB should be more than sufficient."
