I am sticking with my iPhone 8 for one reason: it’s less flashy.

I go out a lot and often times I’ll be out well into the AM sometimes in areas that aren’t the safest.

I would be willing to bet that if I pulled out my ~$1,500 iPhone X (256gb, apple care plus, tax, and a case) while walking on the side walk at 2 AM in some of the areas I hangout in it would be a BAD idea.

Therefore, for safety I’m sticking with my iPhone 8.

Yeah an $800 phone is much safer than a $999 phone. Until the X came out iPhones never got stolen.
[doublepost=1510131339][/doublepost]Also if that’s literally the only reason, it seems like an odd choice. Get a huawei or an SE if you are that worried.

That’s not the point. The iPhone X is more flashy than the 8. The 8 won’t grab as much attention prolly so then I should be safer overall. Everyone has an iPhone but the X is like the unicorn of iPhones right now lol

Just buy a ButtUgly case for it :)

That's the worst iPhone 8 buyers remorse post I've read so far. Well done.

You’ve now made two threads justifying your 8 purchase, AFTER making a thread saying that the X is the greatest iPhone ever made.

Trade it in and buy an X if you want.

I stand by statement the X is the best phone on the market. But it’s not practical for me. I need safety first. And I just love my 8 tbh.

You can test drive a rolls Royce and say it’s the best car in the world and mean it but still love your Mercedes-Benz...

As if I couldn’t sell it on eBay if I REALLY had buyers remorse...

Unless you use a case, the 8 is still prominent with the glass back.

Or, simply get a cheap Android phone as a decoy. I always have my Xiaomi when I travel to less safer regions.

Let’s be real. With an Apple leather case on my iPhone X, it looks just like my iPhone 7 — or any other smartphone for that matter. It’s just a screen. And it’s not like people should be close enough to tell whether there’s a home button or not. Most wont even think to look for something like that.

And if you're not a case person (which I doubt), just don’t take it out when you’re in these unsafe areas. Unless you’re making a spectacle out of using your phone, it’s likely people won’t even notice what you’re using.

If someone notices you have an iPhone they will care less what model it is. If you are in a bad area at 2am you are asking for way more that getting your phone stolen. iPhones all look the same when someone is getting ready to steal it!

Everyone has their choice. You don't need to justify your purchase on MacRumors. You made a great choice on the iPhone 8. You don't need the iPhone X to be "worse" so that everyone else thinks that you made a particularly good choice. ;-)

No one will care what model it is they will just see an iPhone, you really think a potential thief is going to care what version of iPhone you have. Most thefts on the street are done by chance anyway, also if it get's stolen they won't get very far since any thief will need your face to unlock it. Unless you live in a very crappy area i think you are really over thinking it.

Most people don't get their iPhone's stolen, stop watching the news and taking everything that happens as something that will happen to you.

If you remember five words you'll always be just fine, regardless of which phone you have... "Shoot them in the crotch"... ;)

I don't live my life by fear or avoiding a product because I might be a victim of crime.

You can be a slave to fear or you can live your life to the fullest.

If you practice good habits by not flashing your phone (regardless of the phone) in areas that are risky, avoiding those risky areas etc, etc.

Sounds like the problem is not the phone, but where you choose to hang out at 2:00 am.

People have been mugged, injured, and killed for a lot less than a $1,500 phone. If you are truly concerned about that, having the phone that costs a couple hundred less is not the answer.

My X is in a case. I have had it since November 3. The only person who has noticed it is an X is my colleague who is waiting for delivery of theirs. Otherwise it just looks like almost every other smart phone.
