Who worries about how much an expensive phone is in regards to security reasons? I️ pay AT&T $9 bucks a month for insurance that covers theft/accidental damage. It’s just a phone. I️ even forget I️ wear a $9,500 Rolex on my wrist daily. You should know your city and surroundings. I️ know what areas to wear my expensive stuff. Enjoy your phones people. Stay safe.

Pretty much any and all smart phones are targets. A mugger isn’t going to care who made your phone. Simply put, if you get robbed, anything and everything that could be perceived as valuable will be taken, even if it can be rendered useless to the thief. I appreciate your logic, but it is flawed.

How ever you have a rationalize it. OK. But seems silly to me: I’d be willing to bet if I drove my car into a gang infested neighborhood not too far from me and it broke down there I’d be in a heap of trouble. So I don’t go near those areas via any type of transportation. Just apply common sense. Also most street snatchers want something they can easily pawn or fence. That’s not a locked iPhone with digital serial number. More likely to get pick pocketed.

hahahaha " Im not getting an iphone x cuz its to flashy" hahahahahahaha flashy omg. half the people that see my iphone and glance at it think its like any of the other all screen phones. flashy hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Not at all. Just don't put yourself in bad situations. Doesn't matter what type of phone you have. If someone wants to mug you, they will.

Just stay in your safe space snowflake and the criminals won't commit any crimes against you or your new iPhone :p /sarcasm

Seems a bit silly to me. This could be said about any piece of expensive technology. I don't want to get a MacBook Pro because someone might mug me. I don't want an Apple watch because someone might steal it from me. The person that is going to mug you isn't going to care if you have an iPhone 7, iPhone 8, or iPhone X.

What’s funny is that no one notices this is an iPhone X unless they look for the camera, size wise it looks like an 8 especially if the screen is off

I am sticking with my iPhone 8 for one reason: it’s less flashy.

I go out a lot and often times I’ll be out well into the AM sometimes in areas that aren’t the safest.

I would be willing to bet that if I pulled out my ~$1,500 iPhone X (256gb, apple care plus, tax, and a case) while walking on the side walk at 2 AM in some of the areas I hangout in it would be a BAD idea.

Therefore, for safety I’m sticking with my iPhone 8.

1. You probably shouldn't be in these places if you're scared
2. Get a CCW like myself and go out and enjoy life.
3. Take a self defense class, you can probably even carry pepper spray in your purse
4. Is this a joke?

They can have my phone if it comes down to "x vs life." Plus...how are they going to crack the password?

"Skipped" seems a mite disingenuous, IMO, as you already bought a X and returned it, noting a color difference when using True Tone.

That aside, I certainly don't get the notion that a $1500 new phone package is flashy, but a $1200 new phone package is fine for 'sketchy' areas.

It really does seem to me that you're trying to convince yourself that you really have the phone you want. Just pick out the phone you like best that fits in your budget and move on. I would have absolutely NO confidence that a new iPhone 8 is going to keep you safer than a 10. If a meth-head is out looking for a quick score, your location and mannerisms are going to be the biggest factor as to whether or not you'll be a victim.

Situational awareness coupled with quiet confidence will do a lot more for you than "skipping" the iPhone X.

Having any iPhone can make you target. People even get robbed for cheap android phone. I remember seeing a story on the news where a girl got robbed for galaxy s3 and the galaxy s6 was out. So they robbed her for a three year old phone.

Criminals will rob you for $5.

I would suggest you hang out in safer areas or go home earlier.

"I'm gonna keep this phone that's so crappy that even criminals don't want it for free! Jokes on you, suckas!"

Unless you're showing off the X no one will know you have it. I've had mine since launch and I use daily for work/social and not one person has noticed. I also don't tell people it's a X. The phone just looks like a phone unless you're trying to show off.

the iphone X in a case is VERY hard to spot and identify as an iPhone X ... just looks like every other iPhone...

and yeah... "I will not commit a felony and rob the guy for his $900 iPhone 8 plus.... but if he has the X i totally will do it" - as never been said by any criminal.

move to a better area and don't walk around at 2am or get a concealed carry permit...

People could mug you for a number of reasons - not just because of what phone you have. Besides, what makes you think someone wouldn't mug you for the 8, or a 7, or 6S, or your jacket, or clothes, or jewelry, or anything else you might carry or wear?

Wouldn't the bad guys jack you up whether they saw your phone or not? I mean, pretty darn safe to assume that you have a phone even if you do not take it out of your pocket. This is a hilarious thread, thanks for the laughs!

With the amount of posts you've made recently, it seems like you're trying to bury this one.
