larger battery = thicker and I'll take that all day over thinner and less battery
heavier = expected due to larger battery and slightly more metal
bulkier = larger screen means a little more bulk

Honestly, I am happy with the changes made. Sure I'd prefer lighter but it's impossible when packing a larger battery inside...

hmm....
larger screen
smaller bezels
faster
more powerful
RAM up to 64GB
internal storage up to 8TB

(4 oz. more weight, a couple of mm taller, slight increase in dimensions due mostly to larger screen and battery)
Yeah, all definitely show-stoppers - I can't believe that Apple would screw their users with this complete fail.

I am curious to see a side by side comparison. The size seems virtually identical to its predecessor (it’s still considerably thinner than the 2012 chassis) and the extra weight is not a problem. I was worried that they might make it bigger but I have to say I’m fine with this.

Thicker, heavier, bulkier

No thanks!
If you are looking for portability, there are other options in the Macbook lineup... but for those who need portable horsepower, there are no other options. Personally, I'll never buy another MBP (too many issues with GPU and cooling...the MBA is solid for me) but for those who will, this is a good step.

Don't compare the new 16" to the 2016+ 15" model.

Compare it to the 2015 15" model. That was the "last great Macbook Pro", with an awesome keyboard and all that. The new one is actually slightly slimmer and lighter than that model, so I consider it a win all around.

Remember, to get the slightly smaller and lighter 2016+ 15" Macbook Pro they had to sacrifice the quality of the keyboard and battery life. That was a BAD DIRECTION to move in. Apple went back onto the right track, so weight and size went up a little but it's still better than the 2015 one!

Now if only they had put in at least one USB-A port, that would have made the machine perfect.

Thicker, heavier, bulkier is exactly what we needed. I would honestly take a MBP with the same thickness of the Unibodies, that thing would be a true beast. The difference here is quite minimal anyway. It's not all about looks, you know.

I don't care at all about thicker/heavier/bulkier because I don't care about "thin or die" design philosophy. I'm happy to sacrifice size and weight for better performance. The better cooling is the best new feature in my mind.

The only thing I'm a little disappointed in is that the screen is just the same old screen marginally bigger. Loving the OLED screens I'm seeing in PCs. Was hoping it would at least be brighter. Oh well. Screen changes are coming, just not yet.

I love it. Its going to be my first mac. Should be able to get it around march so I will wait until after the march event to see what they are doing with the 13" model
