A little under the Blade 15 - but near enough as makes no difference.

I'm typing this on my Blade 15 and it's weight is pretty decent. Feels dense but not unwieldy. Tempted to trade it in for this 16 inch MBP for Mac OS.
Sweet ok cool. Razer blade is a beast! If this has the same vapour chamber cooling then apple are on to something

Are you remotely serious? What did you expect from a machine that outperforms its predecessor in every way, and crams a larger screen inside? Apple are staffed by engineers, not magicians. I'm just relieved that Apple haven't forgotten the pro market.

Hopefully next time around Apple will cram a 40” screen into the 13”. I will accept nothing else.

I'm not upset
But I'm also not impressed

This is simply what they should have released in 2016 to begin with.

To me it's a necessary correction - which I'm happy about - but it's not some panacea or amazing release.

If they'd done a port specced "next gen" of the 2015's and still had an SSD that was not soldered on and things more along those lines - then I'd be very impressed.

This machine is simply the alternate universe machine we should have always had the last 3 years.

I’m really happy with it. How could anyone complain about a machine that the pro-level customers have been begging for since 2016? This is the dream MBP for pretty much anyone doing heavy workloads.

Well - one angle would be that "we should have had this design in 2016" and imagine where the machine might be now if we had?

In any case - I'm just happy we can likely put to bed keyboard conversations.

The only thing I like about the 16" is the bigger display. But I would prefer the same thinness as the 15" and same dimensions. Just remove bezel or something idk.

I love the butterfly keyboard. Types quick and accurate and so far i havent had a failure thank goodness

The escape key? really? it's fine in the touch bar. Arrows? Seriously? Who cares just hit em when you need em! They're keys folks!

As far as processing power I have the base model and it's more than i need

Well, if the base mode is the max you ever need that is great.

But do remember that for many Pro users the base model would not work. If you are editing long 4K videos time is money, so having a system that can save you time is putting money in your pocket, and well worth the 2 fingernails worth of extra thickness and 4 ounces of extra weight.

That's fine. If you need 864GB of RAM and 912TB SSD then go for it. But not everyone is a pro user...

I use my 15" base for browsing safari, notes, calculator, numbers, pages, and occasionally maps

So light and thin is good. I just like having a big screen. Bigger the better.

I’m guessing you’re not a vim user. Escape key and keyboard improvements are welcome here. Might look into the resale value of 2015 15” now

I think you should phone your date and offer her the new MacBook Pro. High spec of course.

I realize tech come out every year, I just think they did a bogus service to 2019 15" users who bought the latest/greatest 5 months ago.

1 year cycle I get.... 5 months is kind of a dick move

"Thanks!"

:D

(more seriously - I feel ya' - totally blows)

Can we really put the keyboard issues to bed? Nobody has the new keyboard yet. Hopefully it is not from frying pan into fire.

I feel comfortable saying yes simply due to it being a scissor switch again.

But your point is sound - I guess we can't fully put it to bed for a while, but at least there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel.

Put another way - at least it's not "butterfly v4 - let's see how it goes this time!" lol

I suppose you have not done enough work that requires the arrow keys/esc key a lot. Having a real button is much, much better, not to mention that the touchbar can become unresponsive often. Having the same size arrow keys is actually quite useful, it makes it easier to tell where you are without seeing it. There's more but I don't feel the need to put it all here

That .03 inch difference in thickness really bothers you, huh?

I have also not had any real issues with mine, and it's the original 2016 model. However, it has had relatively light use as it's not my main machine, and I have heard SO MANY complaints from people with non-functional, sticky or repeating keys to know that just because it hasn't affected me personally doesn't mean it's not an issue. Sooner or later, we will probably all get bitten.

The inverted T arrangement of keys is clearly easier to use when you're not looking, and a lot of people make heavy use of the Escape key in various programs, so having that key be randomly unavailable when the Touch Bar locks up is a bit of a problem. Just because you personally don't care doesn't mean it's not a problem, and if you legitimately don't care then why on earth would you be against making things better for other people?

So you're complaining that they actually made it faster? Or what. Not getting this point.
