I had no problems with installation but iWork 08 was not working. The following day, I had a software update come through that corrected the problem. It runs mail and Safari really fast and I am extremely pleased with it. It was the best $29 I spent this year! The few programs that wouldn't run are now up and running due to upgrades.:D

I was happy until I tried to run parallels 3.0 - not compatible with 10.6 and no fix in the pipeline.I can't access my windows files!

If you had checked Wikidot you would have known this. I hate to say it, you need to upgrade to 4.0

I'm happy with it. A few small things do not work now (dashboard widgets, menubar iStat). I do agree with Sammwich, fan do kick in a lot more and it is annoying me a little bit. Sometimes the fans will start running when the temps aren't hot.

i upgraded, and things have been pretty smooth, ive had some safari crashes but i reset safari and installed click to flash and it hasn't been crashing since.

snow leopard was pretty much a step sideways for me at this point, feels a little better but on the whole pretty much the same experiance for me.

An interesting thought . . . if Apple needed a quick infusion of cash, all they need to do is craft up a psuedo upgrade that didn't do much of anything terrible good or bad, and they'd almost certainly have a spike in revenue. Genius!

my solid state Air shuts down now in 1 second

the boot time has increased a bit to around 19 seconds

barbie :)

1. NO NOT HAPPY WITH SL (AKA 10.5.9)
2. If MS put this out, with so many incompatibilities, the fanboys would be livid.

I downgraded to the more stable and acceptable 10.5.8

My SSD MBP and my MP show no noticeable speed gains.

(AKA 10.5.9)
Only from a UI perspective. I'll give you 10.5 SP1, though there are some pretty major under-the-hood additions that I'd call more than a service pack.

And yes, a few things are incompatible, but given that they just cut nearly 10GB of cruft out and added an entirely new multithreading subsystem the fact that nearly everything still works fine is surprising to me. Certainly, all my stuff does, and even .x.x updates have a tendency to break stuff like Parallels with deep hooks in the hardware.

I went from 10.4.11 to 10.6 on a white Intel iMac (that had never seen Leopard, by the way).

I've noticed this as well - 10.6 takes longer to boot, but shuts down much faster.

Conversely, if I boot back up on my old 10.4.11 partition, that loads up considerably faster. However, it will take several seconds longer to shut itself down.

Once running, 10.6 seems to launch applications faster and is as stable as any version of OS X. Guess I'll have to live with the additional boot-up time!

Well I have noticed that when I did a clean install, it ran much smoother and faster than an upgrade.

I am also a little upset over the fact that Apple didn't use any of their new tech for half of the apps. They made a few 64-bit, but I didn't see much for OpenCL or GCE.

But overall, I am much happier with the speed increase, and hope that developers will soon implement the new tech into their apps.

I think its great, the only problem i have is with my WD passport I use for time machine, the backup gets an error about 60% through. I've tried reformatting so that my Leopard backup doesn't interfere with it but to no avail.

Other than that, rock friggin solid.

I love it! I did a completely clean install and at the same time cleaned up my applications and files.
I had one small problem, the menu bar would disappear and be replaced by a solid black bar with different coloured lines in it.
However, a reboot fixed this easily - and I don't mind rebooting, it is so much faster now!
So far, pretty much everything has worked seamlessly.

Just upgraded since I just installed a new HDD in my MB a few weeks ago, and it's great. No complaints here, if anything its much snappier.

It does apps

I think he meant "migrate" when he said "restore". And yes, you can migrate data from TM into Snow Leopard. You can even do it during the install (it asks during setup).

Not sure about apps, but data should migrate nicely. (I did a wipe and install, and I'm pretty happy so far.)

My hard drive has crashed and i have upgraded it and all my apps where there. and i does not back up system files because when i had a previous systems folder that got deleted.

I am yet to encounter any new problems with it; granted, there are still some annoyances that existed in 10.5 that are still there, but as an upgrade 10.6 has been pretty stable for me. I did, however, quadruple my ram an invest quite a bit in a good ssd which I didn't use until Snow Leopard, so my visions of the increased speed are probably more related to the new hardware.

Somewhat.
I found a Flaw or two in Safari.

What does Error Code -10823 mean? Besides it hates the Number FileName.13?

I have dozens of folders. Many of those folders have pictures. To make reading files easier I almost always have the file tag hidden. It gets very tiresome reading seeing .doc or .jpg when all you really want to see are the names or number. I can designate FileName.013 with no error codes. But what's the difference besides the extra digit? It doesn't make sense.

I did the wright-up on the other flaw in Safari in another thread. I didn't get any answers. It's weird, it works just fine in Firefox, but the latest Safari just chokes. It's a minor flaw, but its very annoying. I wind up running Firefox and Safari at the same time. If I come to where the stinker is I Cut & Paste the address and move to Firefox. I do what I have to do there and come back to Safari.

My Tascam US-122 interface (USB) does not work. The latest drivers put out by Tascam are 3.2.3 and made for Leopard of course. There's no word on whether they'll update for SL since the US-122 is a "legacy" product. This is semi ok because I have been using the US-122 and just ordered a mixer, which is a direct audio input so drivers aren't going to be needed. Either way it is still a PITA.
I have the same issue with my US-122. It works fine on my macbook pro with SL, but not on my hackintosh.

System profiler finds something there, but it doesn't seem recognize what it is. I used the 3.4 drivers (I think).

It's not a dealbreaker for me either as I have an iMic that I can temporarily use, but this is annoying.

Having said that, I'm extremely grateful for the work the Chameleon team and everyone who made this EFI bootloader stuff possible. You've saved me a boatload of money and this has been a real trip.

I did an upgrade and have been using it for about a week and have not major issues other than flip 4 mac not working. Downloading the newest beta for Snow Leopard fixed that problem. It gave me back almost 7GB of hard disk and seems snappier.

I did a clean install, it was pretty good at first, ran fast and still running, but i have been having kernal panics and it won't wake from sleep many times..

I was forced to shut off the Macbook using the I/O button many times and afraid i might damage something doing that..
