I agree, there should be penalties for doing this unless there is a fault etc..
WTF? Why?? Apple not making enough of everyone to facilitate a change of mind? It’s half the reason I upgrade every year. The ability to truly choose the one that I want.
if they didn’t have that - they would just be Samsung.

Yes. I have an 8 Plus and would not want to carry the Pro Max. Heck, I think the 8 Plus is too heavy.

To add insult to injury, the Max has square sides, which cut into your hands. Uncomfortable!

P.S. Get new batteries for the 8 Pluses. They work great. Will give you a couple more years.

Thank you I appreciate your advice @janeauburn. Yes my battery is toast on the 8 Plus but I still think it's time to move on even if I could just replace the battery. The camera and speakers on the 13PM is a huge leap and I use my iphone for a lot of media cosumption while i'm out and about. I do have a 4th gen ipad Pro and debated 11" vs 12.9 after similar threads comparing sizes and stating the 12.9 was too big. I went 12.9, adjusted to it and don't regret it after a year. I would like my phone to have a mini ipad experience while i'm on the go and can't carry around my 12.9 pro. I think the 13PM is much closer to that experience more so than the 8 plus.

Had the 11 and 12 max models. Just got tired of the hand and finger gymnastics (if not holding it in one hand and using the other hand) to do certain things.

I originally pre-ordered the 13 Pro. Max, but got the Oct. 6 - 11 delivery date. The next day my local Apple Store had the equivalent Pro. model in stock so I got one. Yeah the screen is a little smaller and it's a little more difficult to see who's at the door in my Nest doorbell notification banners, but the size is perfect.

Coming from the X for two years, I upgraded to the regular 11 Pro opting to keep the same screen size and form factor of the X. I obsessed over that decision always wondering if I had missed out on not getting the Max version. I always had the Plus phone prior to the X. That’s why I decided without hesitation to go for the 13 Pro Max. While the size and weight is a definite trade-off, I am thrilled with the screen especially for video consumption.

I tried the 12PM and disagree. There are as many tradeoffs as pluses with these new phones. Keep the 8. Get a new battery. Less is more.

I wanted to hold off for one more year. However my screen is also cracked. So that is another $170 on top of $50 for a battery replacement from Apple to keep this thing going for 2 more years. My 8+ is also 64 GB and I’m constinuously low on space and can’t store much downloaded hi res songs or videos.

Verizon is offering me $800 trade in for my 8+ even with the cracked screen (for a promo). I’ve been with them for 15+ years and I’m not switching for foreseeable future so no issue with being locked in with them for 2 more years. I’ll end up paying $400 for a 256 GB Pro Max.

Why should I, via the extra costs, pay for someone's lack of ability to choose the right device.. I don't mind giving people this option. but it should be user pays.. ie a penalty.. It far to abused, and we are all paying for it..

They even have them right there is every outlet for you to play around with. there is no excuse..

Of course. Every year people that really want the Pro model buy the Max model just to return it for FOMO.
Then they run here and post how "too big" it is and that they are returning it.
It is not like you could demo the sizes at the store or anything.
I don’t have an apple store in my city and I purchase from Verizon so if we exchange it’s a $50 restock fee.

I’m torn. I love the PM. Probably will keep. Am thinking of the Pro though, also in graphite. Problem is the maxs have a decent wait (4weeks) in Australia.
Once covid eases, it’s hard to imagine life without this battery life.
I just canceled my order for the max because of this, I would be way over the return window for the 13 Pro I have. Oh well I actually learned to like this little phone these past few days (too used to max size)

If you have a Best Buy, Target, or any cell phone store within driving distance, you can easily demo the size of the phone. If you have access to a 12 Pro Max (at even more stores), you have access to the 13 Pro Max size.
But good on Verizon. I wish Apple did this to deter the lookie loos that return 5 new iPhones to get the best color and size.

I know I’m not one that plays games I’ve just been use to max size and have been contemplating going pro size but hearing battery isn’t that good on them

Do you honestly, even for a second, think that if apple stopped doing returns, they would pass on even one cent to you or I’s pocket?

it’s not the units they make the money off. They are way cheaper than what they sell for. Even on repairs and apple care would still be at a profit in terms of apple making an extra unit. So let’s 10% of people do this return thing and 10% of those are the idiots that do it multiple times for kicks.. it’s the rrp they profit on and then all the extras. Apple Music, and apps etc.. but yeah let’s put it this way. They’ve been doing it unlimited so far and currently a trillion dollar company so clearly what they’re doing is working very, very, very well.

Went from 11 Pro Max to 13 Pro and couldn't be happier. Size and usage far more convenient for me - the only thing that annoys me is that my existing 3rd party (Anker mainly) wireless charging docks won't allow the 13 Pro to sit flush against them due to the bigger camera bump, but I'll learn to deal with that.

Love the size of the 13 PM but might be exchanging it due to a pink hue of the screen, does anybody have that?

there are cons to both of course, having come from the 12 Pro, if that batter issue persist on the 13 Pro, it is a real problem! Seems like I ALWAYS had to charge....that was just on LTE too! So not sure how much better the 13 Pro is I have a feeling not that much better actually. Yes the size is great with the 13 pro, but harder to see text and multitask compared to the PM. Also for travel PM is much better, you can use it on the plane for movies, emails, documents etc. a mini ipad if you will. there is no perfect phone, sadly-

You find the 6’1” pro hard to see? Or are you just saying that because you’re use to the pro max? If it’s the former, you seriously need to get yourself to an optometrist.

Finally went Max for the first time for the 12 PM, figured during lockdown there’d be less reason to pocket, which was mostly true. After being out and about a bit more since early summer I must say the novelty of the screen wore off and the fumbling around and not knowing which pocket would be best based on standing, sitting, driving, jacket, shorts etc I just said F it and went back to the Pro. It’s still a bigger screen than my 11 Pro was, I think. So far I’m quite surprised by the density (which is a reasonable trade off if the battery life turns out to be good), couldn’t imagine going any heavier than this.

I haven’t noticed a pink hue on my 13 PM. Do you mean the screen looks more warm? Is it possible that you are seeing the effect of True Tone? Just checking because it can be quite aggressive with how warm it makes the display appear based on surroundings.

Coming from an 11 pro max I was hesitant and wanted to order the 13 pro but when pre orders were available I went for the PM. I’m debating ordering a pro. I love the bigger screen but I would love using my phone with one hand more. The only thing that really scares me is battery life. As someone else said there is no perfect phone
