Here are some answers to some of the more complex questions:

Additional line - Yes, the Apple Watch is considered an additional line as per paragraph 3 of the terms, however in practice it will operate with the same number as your iPhone.

Setting up - Everything will be done via the Apple Watch app. Apple will verify your number and EE account during set up. The second line, and Apple Watch add-on, will then activate on your EE account.

Cost - Free for the first 6 months, with no data cap. After 6 months, you will automatically be charged £5 per month for 10GB of data on a 30 day rolling contract.

Billing - The £5 will be added onto your standard EE bill. However, the date you commence cellular service on your Apple Watch may be different to the date you normally receive your bill, so the first bill will be pro-rated.
  • For example: if I commence service on the 1st of the month but my bill is on the 15th, I will receive free service for 6 months, and then on the 15th day of the 7th month, my bill will be ~£7.50.
  • In other words, your bills will synchronise.
Allowances - Texts and minutes come off your standard iPhone allowance. Data is treated separately. At present there is no way to add on data on an ad-hoc basis if you go over your allowance, but this may change.

Free trial limits - A maximum of 1 free trial may be claimed per Watch and per account. So if you get a replacement Watch from Apple after 6 months, your trial doesn't start again - sorry!

Similarly, if you sell your Apple Watch, the buyer won't be eligible for a free trial, even if they've never used an Apple Watch before.

If you cancel your cellular service during the 6 month trial, you cannot restart the trial and must pay to use it again.

I have ordered my S3 with EE and am awaiting delivery.

I have been a customer for around 2 years now and can’t fault the service where I live, especially compared to some other networks that couldn’t even offer 3G where I lived - I get perfect 4G unless in the downstairs loo lol.

The store staff aren’t that helpful but I have always found the telephone and online support acceptable.

I am slightly frustrated as of late as I have attempted to add AirPods onto my contract when I renewed to sim only this week. I was told on the phone to pop into a store to sort it out. The store told me that I couldn’t do it as I had upgraded the day before. Simply put, store a little hopeless lol.

Does it work with PAYG?

I was with 3, but ordered a EE 4G Multi sim today, PAYM 22GB, unlimited data & texts, can be used in 53 different destinations around the world! Ready for my watch being delivered on Friday! The only reason I joined 3, was that 2 years ago they were the only carrier to offer using data for free in other countries, now most carriers do it, and EE have much better coverage in my area!

EDIT - The new EE contract cost me £26 per month

I've seriously considered it, but EE is just so much more expensive than what I'm paying on Three. I will just have to be patient.

What are you paying on Three? £21 for 18 gigs is pretty reasonable considering EE's coverage and extras.

Its worth ringing them up, I did today, and they offer some cheaper deals over the phone! Worth a try! Big believer of if you don't ask you don't get!

£11/month for 4GB data, unlimited voice and texts.

In all honesty I could do with a bit more data per month, though if I run out I can buy another 4GB for £5, so for the few months I run over I still get a great deal.

Although I fully acknowledge EE is the better network, I just can't justify it, as much as I want to.

Don't think I will be moving to EE. Currently only paying £7 per month with iD SIM only as only need 1GB data. Cheapest SIM only deal I can find with EE is £16 per month. I would then have to add on £5 per month for the watch. Think I will sit tight and see what others can offer.

Really can't make up my mind either. I'm with Three as well, £17 a month, unlimited data, Feel like home (which gives you access to your allowance in many many countries around the world).

EE has either the £21 a month for 18GB - which is more than enough, don't get me wrong - but can be used only in the EU, or £26 if you want to add 5 extra countries. My obvious choice would be the latter, as I travel quite a lot. Take £26, add in a fiver every month for the AW. £31, vs current £17. It's a big change.
On the pros side, I would save £10 Apple Music for 6 months, and not pay the extra £5 for the same amount of time.

Is it worth switching over for a year and then see what happens when the exclusive is over for EE?

For anyone interested, I have a discount code - employee20edr

You can use this via the online checkout process to discount 20% from your subscription.

Helps sweeten the deal a little for moving networks.

Unfortunately it doesn't work on the Apple Watch currently but it does work on all iPhone deals, as well as SIM only packages.
[doublepost=1505728154][/doublepost]On another note, just to make things clear.

The deal with EE is not exclusive and it does not prevent other networks from offering the Apple Watch and associated services.

The only thing that it stopping other networks offering the Watch and associated services is the capability of their network. As soon as they work this out, they can then start to offer it.

This could be in two months, it could be in two years, it is not a contractual arrangement, it's a technical barrier that is stopping the other networks.

Apple are more than happy for other networks to offer the Watch, the other networks are just not able to handle it until they finish their upgrades etc.

Nope....

I did consider it, but we've got good plans with O2 and its just going to be a hassle to switch. In addition, I've not read great things about EE and I can wait for this feature, its a nice to have for me rather than something which is a must-have right now.

Its an interesting play by EE to get exclusivity on this - I'd love to know what the terms of the deal were and how it plays out for them.

I probably would switch if I weren't already on EE.

I switched from O2 (whom I had been with since the first iPhone) to EE a few years ago, I think around the time they were the first with 4G. Have to say I have not had any problems and their always helpful when I call up. I am getting my first Apple Watch on Friday - LTE has made me order it. So I think it would have probably switched for this......Or else I might have held off getting a watch for now.

That 20% discount is making the difference :D

Defo gonna switch! Super thanks to you!!!

Use discount codes without permission with caution.

EE can quite easily slap you will the full tariff mid-contract if they realise you were not eligible.

I have used it for the past two years without any trouble at all :)
It is an employee discount code.

If a friend gave it you, it can’t be used an unlimited amount of times.

Eventually it will probably land whosever code it was in trouble.

So for people not switching to EE are you buying the standard Apple Watch 3, or the LTE one, or just waiting to see?

I've ordered the LTE one and hoping Three switch it on at some point.

Since the AW3 GPS only models are'nt Stainless Steel , am thinking of getting the LTE model and not activating just yet. I have a sim-only phone tariff with EE

Nope - I'm on Vodafone, and after cashback get 16GB for £10.75/month with unlimited calls and texts. EE can't come anywhere near that - not that I would really need LTE on a watch anyway.

Having had confirmation from Three's Executive Office today that they have no plans to support the eSIM, I've made the switch to EE. Quidco are offering £70 cashback on the £21/month tariff, making it about £15/month. I chose this over the discount code as it's a better deal, at least for the first year.

If this is to be believed, it looks like no other UK networks will be supporting the watch, so anyone wanting to make use of cellular should make the switch too!
