I believe entering the password is still required the first time you buy an app after a restart. After that you can use TouchID. If you buy apps so rarely and do so after you've installed the latest OS update that'd be why.

I haven't really paid attention. It's possible that this is what is happening. Thanks for the heads up!

Nope. Not a single place around me that has it.

If you're actually in buffalo I know that isn't true. :)

Wegman's has it :)

Unfortunately it's neither advertised not labeled or obvious. I basically just tried it and It worked.

Oh. I have a 5c so I don't think I'll be able to get it to work. ;) lol
I'll have to look harder next time I'm at wegmans. They have an app, but it has iOS 6 styling. I didn't expect they would have apple pay...

A password is required after every reboot. I read somewhere that the reason for that is because the part of the CPU (or wherever the fingerprint is stored in the iPhone) is shut off after every reboot for security reasons. Therefore it needs you to input the password in order to turn on again.

If you're in the UK (according to OP info box), it'll be available to use in a lot of places. A lot of merchants already accept contactless/NFC payments whether they are on contactless cards or google wallet.

Granted, I wasn't aware that Apple Pay was available in the UK yet.

they dont have mcdonalds and walgreens near you?

A quick look in Google Maps shows there's McDonalds, Subway, Walgreens, Home Depot, Panera, and Wegmans all within 5-6 miles of Hamburg, NY.

So unless he's somewhere other than where he set his profile to say he was, he has several Apple Pay options nearby.

IMO, it's not worth it to upgrade JUST for Apple Pay. If you are into the other features of the 6 and 6 plus, such as bigger screen, better camera, more thinness and uh bigger screen...then yes upgrade. There are not enough locations for you to use it. It's better to maybe wait for the 6S when by that time, more stores will be adopting mobile payments.

Then again, if you really love eating at Mcdonalds, do your pharmacy at Walgreens, and love the organic food at Whole Foods, then maybe.

Pretty good thread. My bank alerted me that they accept it but like everybody says, not enough places use it yet. Walgreens and Subway will have to be my testing ground with Apple Pay.

these places have had NFC terminals for years now. both companys installed them at all locations. check it out

As long as someone is resurrecting this thread, I'll point out that I did see Apple pay support at wegmans

Walgreens is pretty much the only place I get to use it on a regular basis. I use it at Whole Foods when I feel like driving all the way out there sometimes.

There are many things Apple does that I find delightful.

Then there's Apple Pay. I'm neither for it or against it at this early juncture. I've only used it four times just for the experience.

The good news as a shareholder, is its certain ability to further Apples ability to get even fatter and happier... an insatiable hunger of theirs. Each hour of each day Apples cash hoard grows immensely.

What's not "delightful" about Apple Pay in comparison to those other things?

Used it twice at whole foods. Pretty cool. It senses your phone nearby, put your thumb on it and done. Except for the larger amount I still had to sign which kills the fun and convenience.

Until it's accepted broadly I still have to carry my wallet around. And I also don't want an embedded chip in my body with this movement toward bio security so I actually don't mind just using a card as I always have.

I'm not sure I would buy a new phone for it, but man I love it so much. In my town we have a LOT of stores that accept Apple Pay. Off the top of my head: Subway, McDonalds, OfficeMax, Staples, Walgreens, Meier, and coming soon Home Depot and Best Buy. I know there are more that I'm not thinking of right now, because I have used it at many more places than those.

Here's my thing--my identity was stolen at Meier last year (before Apple Pay came out) and the people who stole my card racked up $300 in charges. I had to change my card, get the charges reversed, etc. It was a big pain in the butt. With Apple Pay, Meier doesn't see your credit card number at all, and neither do the packet sniffers. They just see a non-descript code that is tied to your card. That code means nothing to anybody.

And here's a feature nobody knows about. If in fact your plastic credit card does get stolen or hacked and you have to order a new one, Apple Pay will update that card with whatever new one was issued BEFORE you even get the new one in the mail. It just auto updates with the new info. Pretty awesome.

I'm wondering if you really are a shareholder, because shareholders are usually very excited about services like Apple Pay.
