I'm thinking I was only able to purchase it over the phone because I had just purchased the iPad 3 the day before (the morning of launch day). They would have to assume that the iPad was only in my hands less than 24 hours.

With the ADH, I can understand how Apple would be concerned that people would buy Applecare + after they had a mishap, and thart's why they want to see it in person...which I did not have to do, though...

So, at one point, I wonder, would Applecare + no longer be available over the phone?

Apple told me I had 30 days to add Applecare+

True, but some folks are being told that they cannot purchase Applecare + over the phone...that they have to bring in their iPad to an Apple Store to verify that it is working/intact at the time of the Applecare + sale.

Hey guys,

I don't know if it's the right place to ask but I will gve it a shot.

I got an iPad 2. It's still under the one year warranty. I plan to buy the apple care for it.

So how do I go about that. Apple site shows only apple care plus. I don't mind buying that too for my iPad 2. But as the T&C, I am suppose to buy apple care plus withinh the month. Which is not possible as my iPad 2 is around 6 months old.

So any clue what I am suppose to do??

FYI - I bought my new iPad on launch day (17th), just added Applecare+ over the phone today (26th) with no questions asked. Took all of 5 minutes at most.

That's what I'm planning to do. You just need to bring your iPad in to be inspected by a Genius.

Was going to do this...but one of the employees there was kind enough to handle the whole thing herself all within 5 minutes

So i've been thinking about this for a while, and wasn't able to make up my mind.

I just looked up for SquareTrade and found a coupon code that took $40 off my warranty. So for $10 more than Apple Care + I got 3 years of protection.

Anyways one of the main reason i choose SquareTrade was because, i live 30 miles from the nearest apple store, so since SquareTrade gives me an option of mailing it on or taking it to an apple store.

this just seems convenient.

Just my thoughts.

You can mail in with Applecare as well.

Just want to be sure you understand in year one manufacturer defects will be handled by Apple, damage replacement by ST. Every single claim you make will lower the coverage limit. Every claim has a $49 deductible and this is subracted as well.

Each replacement of a ipad is going to be max $299 (Apple out of warranty replacement). Since the ipad is not easily repaired my guess is that every repair claim will be charged at the out of warranty level. Add your $49 deductible, and lets assume you have the max coverage your can $829.

So after that first claim/repair, you could have as little as $479 left.

Once you hit $0, even if 3 years are not up your warranty is over.
