Maybe time to give Sprint a second look. They have made drastic improvements to their LTE network, and they have a super fast WiiMax 4G fallback instead of 3G like AT&T
Not where I live. t-Mobile 14Mbps, AT&T 7.5 Mbps Sprint 400Kbps with some tests as low as 200Kbps

Just seems like to me T-Mobile has made drastic improvements in my area and it's much cheaper. I'm considering trying a line out to compare. A few friends of mine had att and switched over and are saying it's better. Curious if anyone has tried T-Mobile or currently have it?

I just switched over 6 lines from AT&T to Tmobile.
Im very happy with the switch and the price Im getting.

Only issue I have is with some callers I have to say "Hello" twice, because they don't hear the first one...

But that's been that way for a while now.

Yes, this is the same with Verizon. I've just gotten in the habit of waiting a 3-count before saying 'hello' after answering a call.

In my opinion both T-mobile and Att got slower for the last 4-5 months. T-mobile is congested in some areas, not even useful. Att just slow.

Meh, not really. B30 has been fantastic.

tl;dr: have had ATT for 13 years, went from flip phone to first iPhone, EDGE, 3G update, "4G", and LTE. If anything it's been much better as time progressed. I live/d in Chicago and it's suburbs. Currently down in central Illinois where it was only EDGE up until about a year ago when LTE rolled out. Super happy overall.

edit: i think my tl;dr needs it's own tl;dr. sorry!

I used to get 30 mbps, now usually 10-12. seems connectivity everywhere is declining or atlesst hitting a user wallx

Areas with B30 are really great, without are slower, but usable. What I really like with Att there is no congestion areas (I haven't seen one yet) with slow internet you cannot use.

How has your experience been in Central Illinois as a whole? Signal strength and speed wise? I'm in Bloomington right now with Verizon and am so tired of their signal dropping to 3G as soon as I go in somewhere. Considering switching back to AT&T, was with them a couple years ago when they were starting to transition the area from edge to hspa.

I've been testing T-Mobile's network for almost 2 weeks and it smokes att. I'm considering making the switch this weekend. Att speeds I can't get nothing over 20-25 down and 4-10 upload. T-Mobile has made huge improvements since last year.

T-mobile at Mass General Hospital today. I agree that T-mobile improved a lot, but they are still behind Att.

This is why TMo is not even close to the Big 2.

MGH is ranked the #1 hospital in the US and has the largest research program out of any hospital in the world.

Why do I feel AT&T service is declining? Any other iPhone users experiencing issues with AT&T? Their service in my area has always been exceptional up until recently?? Perhaps the network is getting too bogged down, i don't know.

Same here. I moved into my home. About 3 months later, everything goes to ****. Been like this for over a year now. They say my phone jumps between two towers since I'm at the end of each. Bull ****. I told them it worked fine for 3 months. Why the change.

AT&T just won't admit their network is declining. Even in the downtown of my city, it's getting bad. And there's several AT&T corp buildings around here too.

Inside deep walls of a hospital though.
Im sure verizon and AT&T have internal antennas to get signal in thick buildings and deep basements of hospitals.
If you work at a place like that it will suck, if you're just visiting for an hour or at a dr's visit then its no big deal IMO.

I haven't noticed a difference in speed with AT&T, but I have been having an ongoing issue with delayed group SMS suddenly showing up all at once.

See I've got the opposite results this past week. I've been at 2 local hospitals this past week and T-Mobile has averaged 2-3 bars LTE inside as where att was struggling to get 1-2 4g. I've had att for yrs and have thought they were always really good up until I started doing consistent speed tests. T-Mobile clearly blows them away. There are times where I get decent download speeds with att but terrible upload. T-Mobile has had service everywhere my att device has had. A year ago not the case.

I've been with AT&T for about 15 years - through all of the iterations AT&T > SWB > Cingular > at&t. Their service is still as good as ever where I live, work and play. However, I am beyond myself with frustration over their policies.

First they have unlimited data. Then they don't. Now, if you have DirecTV, you can get it again, albeit with a butt-load of restrictions and caveats. We currently have 5 lines with unlimited text and talk, and we share 30gb of data, including the option for tethering/hotspots. Since I also have DirecTV service, I inquired about the new unlimited data plan. They will throttle you in congested areas at 22gb and above - so I lose 8gb... and even though it's "unlimited", I cannot do tethering/hotspots.

And I just read that they jacked their upgrade fee from $15 to $20, after previously stating that they were eliminating the upgrade fees for Next and outright purchase of new devices. GRRRRR.

I am tempted to look at T-Mobile, but I've heard some horror stories. Unfortunately, the devil you know is safer than the devil you don't know.

They will "deprioritize" you after 22GB, but I notice people make more of it then they should. I'm at 61GB for the month and haven't noticed any slowdowns whatsoever, in fact I never noticed any slowdowns since they implemented this policy, and I live in a large city.

I don't know if it's declining but the coverage sucks here in the Seattle area. I never had any coverage problems before I moved here from the Philadelphia area.

I am also getting conflicting information from AT&T. Some reps say the throttling ("deprioritizing") occurs at 22gb per line and others say at 22gb per account. In my case, that's a huge difference.

It is 22 Gb per line, not per account. Same like with old grandfather UDPs. I have UDPs and cannot remember last time I was deprioritized. I agree with you about T-mobile. My first impression was also to move there, but no service here and there in addition to data congestions on on their network left me with Att. Little by little Att gives up and give us more features. T-mobile puts a lot of pressure on them.
