Is everyone getting AppleCare on their M1s?

Not sure yet for my MBA. I have about a month to decide to add it. My credit card already extended my MBA warranty by one year. If I do add it, will AppleCare add more resale value my MBA?
 
I always recommend Apple Care if you’re going to keep it for more than a year. It’s well worth it even if you don’t have a problem that requires using it. I call it peace of mind

One disadvantage of AppleCare versus self-insuring, that is not often recognized: if your computer is repaired or replaced, you typically get the same old model (refurbished).
If you self-insure and if you need to replace it, you get the latest model. Which in a couple of years' time may be the 14" Mini-LED screen, M2 processor, 4 ports, 32 GB, etc.
Just something to consider.

No point to AppleCare, unless for accidental damage, especially as you're in the UK.

I've had numerous 3-4 year old machines repaired, including new logic boards under this law. Employees at the various Apple Stores are well aware of it, but don't volunteer the information, so you have to mention it, and sometimes push. Then they'll call out a more senior member of staff to inspect the machine, to make sure it's not been damaged in any way, and they are usually pretty good at honouring it. No paperwork or anything, they just take it in, and a few days laters, your machine (or iPhone) is fixed.

WOW, is that the reason why prices are so much higher in the UK and EU ???

The higher price point to offset the cost of extended warranty that Apple has to pay for compared to the low prices in the US for 1 year of standard coverage ?
 
I buy AppleCare+ on every Apple product I buy. You have one bad logic board or one bad display outside of that limited warranty and then it more than pays for itself. If you don't, at least you had peace of mind all throughout.

Considering that the only repair available on my M1 mini is system board replacement, Yes I checked that box as soon as it was made available.

AppleCare+ for Macs is outrageous. I have for my iPhone 12, watch and iPad....but for the MacBook I am getting elsewhere I hope
 
Bestbuy is selling apple care plus for MBA for $50 off. So $199 for 3 yrs is not bad.

Is that true? I thought all parts on Macbook's are only a 12-month warranty? That's a first.
 
Nope. Over the years have had 20 some odd Apple devices within the family (iPhones, iPads, computers). Did the math, I have had only one fail, a Mac mini at 7 years old. Minus the cost of that with the money saved not getting AC I can buy two laptops, so I self insure.
 
I didn't bother. Standard consumer protection in Australia is 2 years after purchase, and this is long enough to weed out any manufacturing defect. If it fails after that, I'll take my chances with repair costs, or in the worst-case scenario just eat the loss.
 
I had an iPad get the white spot out of warranty and my local store replaced it.

Yup similar. The one iPad that did develop on my iPad, my Apple store replaced out of warranty. Kindness goes a long way in retail.
 
Normally I don’t, but I did this time for my M1 MacBook Air. Last time I had AppleCare on a Mac was my 1st gen MacBook Pro. It paid for itself.
 
For the new mini, dang straight. So I will have 3 year of support for the mini and the new monitor.

I know the battery lasts long so you’ll go through less cycles but I had AC on my 12 inch MacBook and spilled water into it. Apple replaced whole top case and battery after 3 years of use so in this case it was worth it but also I dropped that laptop a few times without any case on it and all I got was little dings here and there so...

$50/mo is 600/year and extremely expensive.

I have seen sales of AppleCare on Costco.com like 50% off so can I just purchase the AC+ only without the hardware purchase ?
