What's funny...

... is that they said the same thing about the Simpsons in 1990; to the point that the Pope publicly berates the show...

... yet 5 years later, the same Pope praises Bart and calls him a roll model for children.

I think south park has it right (Cartman's POV). Sometimes it can be funny, but often not so much.

Kind of reminds me of how a while back, Family Guy made fun of the Simpsons for being too commercial by mocking Homer and his Butterfinger commercials. Now you've got Peter Griffin doing advertisements for Subway :rolleyes:

Another thing that annoys me a bit about Family Guy...when did Stewie go from being a maniacal baby who wants to kill his mother, to being one gay stereotype after another?

I still enjoy it, but will say it is a different show than before cancellation.

Before, Meg was more independent and was just plain. After, Meg is whiny and "ugly".
Before, Stewie want to take over the world and kill his mother. After, Stewie alludes to being gay and into bestiality and want to kill is mother.

My real problem is how out on tangents they can get, or that Stewie is just like everyone else, not a baby who just happens to be smart.

This might be better for the other thread, but I first watched the "Shapoopie" song stoned off my ass and it was incredible.

Family Guy used to be good and then it got "eh"
 
I think its brilliant, obviously with everything, some episodes are better than others.

There from the start, and during the times it was cancelled. But now on the 7th series.
 
I think its funny.

It is annoying that they keep playing the reruns over and over again.

it used to be hilarious... it tries too hard nowadays tough...
 
I never really liked the show in the first place. I mean, I don't avoid it. If I'm channel surfing and there's nothing else on, I'll watch it. And I will admit, its had its moment's (chicken fight anyone?) but most of the time, the jokes are lame and just not funny. And it's been getting worse lately too.

I happen to be a die-hard Simpsons fan though, I think the joke's are a little more mature and not so wildly absurd.

I'm a Simpsons fan as well, have been since Day 1, but like Family Guy time has taken its toll on that show as well. Sure it still makes me laugh now and then, but it's simply not as good as it used to be.

i used to have the theme song and even some quotes from the show as my ringtones.. but not anymore
P.S. I do agree and believe the first few seasons were best..

I agree, it also has gone downhill since the earlier days.

Still, it took a good 10 years for it to start down that path. FG took what, 5 or 6?

True. I wouldn't even say 5 or 6 really, IMO everything FG after Season 3 has been so-so.

New season is starting soon -- maybe it'll be a pleasant surprise :)
