It’s 9:27 AM ET and several Pro models are still shipping on 9/20. Several Pro Max models are at 10/2-10/7. Wondering how it’s going for Apple. Is this slower than in years past or am I just remembering wrong?

Majority of us middle class people aren’t upgrading every year… just not smart financially. Unless your getting your moneys worth on your previous device

The trend is…. The majority of preorders are coming from people who are upgrading from the iPhone 13 and under, the majority of people who upgrade to the 17 will be coming from the 14 and under, etc etc

That may change either way if Apple continues to lock certain new features under the latest phone

Middle class public servant government worker here and upgrading from 14 to 16 because Apple Card financing for 24 months at 0% made me....🤣

lol at 0% fair enough

Considering the cost of Apple Care and the value in case I have issues… I upgrade every 3 years, taking advantage of the carrier subsidy and an extra $200 I put down

I’m getting the 16 Pro Max for $399 or $5.52 a month for the device itself after credits

Have you seen Boost mobile - no trade in - $0/month for the 16 Pro ?

$65/month service.

A lot slower. Remember the good old days of lines outside stores, excitement, band of brothers style bonding with those around you. Online orders would often slip to November within minutes. The store would crash. We will never see that again.
And Tim would report supply constraints for selling fewer devices end of the quarter in the past. It was fun and excitement but loss of revenue. Apple is selling record iPhones and is better at managing supply chain now than in the past. I doubt Apple is complaining when they can sell more devices in the quarter.

Not much of a deal imo because this very same plan without the phone attached to it is only $25/mo. And it's only $65/mo if you get the base model 128GB Pro and stay on the plan for 3 years… HARD PASS.✋🏼

I love everyone speculating like they know what they’re talking about.

What about…:
1. Apple prepared stock/availability better this year?
2. Apple prepared their servers for the launch day?

Those are 2 huge variables in what you assume/perceive from the shipping delays.

And while I am not arguing that they are doing as well as last year, you cannot really argue against it either.

None of us here is qualified to really know if apple “needs help selling” or if this is really an “incremental update” as many put it.

When we get the quarterly earnings of apple or devices sold statistics (from wherever) then we will know for sure if this was a success or not. So we will see…

Way too optimistic …

It's an in between year, to be sure. What used to be called an S model, back when Apple marketing was still honest about what they were doing.

iPhone 17 will be the next super cycle.
I’d wager there will never be a super cycle again. The market is way more saturated, and sales are less concentrated around launch date.

Who knows? Actually… Apple knows 🤣

I’m not even upgrading every other year. Still have 12 Pro Max and technically, no reason to upgrade yet, it works fine.

The only thing I consider is switching to an Xperia 1 to be honest.

We peon don’t know the answer to your question. Please make a call to Apple. 🤪

Nothing innovative this year besides a dedicated camera button, for selectable options, that's already available on every iPhone. As for AI, I say its like Ray-tracing games they announce last year, which a year later is still M.I.A.

I find it pretty funny the people who queue up, pre order, etc. Most of the time on release day I can skip the queue at the Apple Store, walk into one of the local telcos and buy a handset from their stock without even waiting more than 5 minutes for service.

Not sure what rock you've been living under, but ray tracing for AAA games has been a big thing for some years at this point.
