I find it pretty funny the people who queue up, pre order, etc. Most of the time on release day I can skip the queue at the Apple Store, walk into one of the local telcos and buy a handset from their stock without even waiting more than 5 minutes for service.

but you're spending more time driving to the store and walking around than they did. I'm not sure what you're trying to say.

I'm surprised how far out delivery dates are for orders in North Texas. It appears to be selling better than last year, but of course that could also be due to lower inventory. I anticipate being able to get a product on 9/20 fairly easily, at least up till the afternoon and then I imagine in-store (non-pre-order) inventory will be depleted.

(iPhone 16 dates are still 9/20 for all sizes/colors/storage.)

Skipping for the first time in 10 years. Smartphone upgrade fatigue.

Not sure how things will go for the market, but I suspect AI won’t be enough to create new super cycles. Dare I say, I think we’ve finally hit smartphone plateau (in my opinion, of course).

Is that the price to sell your soul (re. as they recoup that by selling your personal info, which is worth more to them than the “free” phone you think you’re getting)
I did the math, going to switch from TMO to Visible.

Visible promotion: $15/month service + $41/ month Apple Card financing = $56/month.

Not bad compared to what I have been paying for 2 years @ $85/month with iPhone 14+.

I decided to upgrade from the 14 Pro. My battery is just at 82% and I decided to try the Max for the first time in a few years since the Ti helps with the weight a bit and I really like long battery life.

I decided to buy direct from apple and get an unlocked phone, as the trade in isn't terrible and I don't feel like 3 years of bill credits from a carrier this time. About 50% of the phone cost after 2 years could be worse. Maybe I could get another $100 selling on my own, but its a pain. I think there is likely going to be a pretty big 13-15 serious sell off this time of the older phone. I guess we will see.

If they get rid of the notch/dynamic island for the 17 I will probably get it. I would be money the 17 will be another small improvement on battery, maybe a new processor and some new better colors. There hasn't been a huge major change to the iphone in quite some time. They can only make so many screen improvement, maybe a better refresh, maybe an even thinner bezel....I really can't even imagine any shocking changes that can be made at this point, until they decide to do a folding phone, and that's probably 2-3 years out at least if ever. Can they scrape together another 2 hours of battery life, and save 10 grams of weight on the max? Maybe. Maybe a little processor efficiency? They go back between square edges and round - i hope they don't go back to round. Screen all the way to the edge, full curved scree? Samsung has already kind of stopped that to the extreme haven't they. What else can they improve that is game changing?

The colors are pretty boring for the 16 pro to be honest. My 14 is purple and I love it.

I’d wager there will never be a super cycle again. The market is way more saturated, and sales are less concentrated around launch date.

Who knows? Actually… Apple knows 🤣
Apple's own data shows that the super cycles are several orders of magnitude larger than they were when the phrase first started being used. So, yeah...

While it of course feels like it is easier these days, it always seems that when they announce the sales, they actually sell more than each previous year. They are probably getting better at both keeping the online store functioning and better estimating demand.

Not much of a deal imo because this very same plan without the phone attached to it is only $25/mo. And it's only $65/mo if you get the base model 128GB Pro and stay on the plan for 3 years… HARD PASS.✋🏼
Some people can't do simple math, 36 x $65 = $2340 + sales tax on base price of iPhone. Lol

The price is that for the iPhone Pro you pay $40/month extra compared to the BYOD plan, for 36 months. That’s $1440 in total, for a phone that otherwise only costs $1000 (or less soon at third-party retailers). An incredible deal indeed.

The 16 pm is an incremental update from what I see. Software is what will make the 16 but not for months when they release the new features.

Personally I’ve decided to wait for a slimmer model. I really like the M4 iPad Pros and just how light and thin they are. I find myself reaching for my iPad way more often. Made me realize that the same slimming down on the iPhone would be amazing. Instead Apple increased the size and weight this year for very little tangible benefit that I can see. Microscopic increase in display size? Longer battery life? The Max models have always had big enough screens and more than sufficient battery life. What they really need is to go on a diet.
