You're actually trying to watch videos while simultaneously playing Tetris on a 5.5" screen with an incredibly slow and laggy device?

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that was just a poorly-executed joke or troll attempt, because that's the most moronic example of split-screen multi-tasking imaginable.

I love my iPhone 6, and I think the 6+ I have on the way will be the best phone out, but I had a Note 3 that I used as a secondary device and could split window such apps with zero lag.

Who the hell wants to watch videos while playing Tetris?

Also it isn't pathetic if it has been shown that the 1GB of RAM can still out perform devices that has 3GB. Now who is pathetic?

This spec war is so early 2000's. It's 2014 and only the experience technology brings is meaningful anymore.

Blatantly ignore the video. Sick, dude. It's clear proof that the way Apple handles multitasking is not necessarily affected by the amount of RAM in the same sense as Android or even desktop operating systems handle it.

Same thing with the fact that the 1.3ghz dual-core A8 outperforms the 8-core Exynos(clocked higher, too) in literally every benchmark. The specs do not make an accurate comparison. Sure, it sucks that it has 1GB of RAM and I'm the biggest power user of Apple products - but it hasn't presented a single problem in real-world use.

Just a tip but I wouldn't even waste your breath on marine0816, simply add the guy to the ignore list :)

We must have different definitions of "lag", because even the Note 4 lags in certain applications (without even running side-by-side). I suspect that most modern phones (at least Snapdrsgon 801/805 and Apple A7/A8) could run two lightweight apps side by side without much of an issue.

The fact that Apple is putting 2GB RAM in the upcoming iPads to handle multitasking really makes the 6 & 6+ feel obsolete right out the gate.

Apple really screwed us over with 1GB RAM in these things...pretty much will force us to upgrade a year early to "S" models to take advantage of the new multitasking features.

Take it back. I think there is still time.

Come on over with us, the grass is always greener on our side! ;)

Just kidding of course. Nothing but love for the even #'d iPhone users.

I wouldn't be so sure that the 6S and 6S+ will have 2GB of RAM. The iPads might only be getting 2GB to support the on-screen multi-tasking function.

It's certainly possible, and hopefully Apple will do it, but it would be a departure from recent iPhone releases, where the RAM was raised on the iPhone 4 and left the same on 4S, and then raised to 1GB on iPhone 5, and as of yet unchanged.

No!! Of course 1GB is not future proof. The iPad Air with 2GB RAM marks the beginning of the end of 1GB being any kind of future proof for iOS devices. Get the Note 4. I am

This right here ... planned obsolescence, Apple is getting better and better with each new iPhone.

Touchwiz? No thanks...

I agree, and hate apple for this fact, but it's not like Android manufacturers don't do the same thing just in different ways and both sides have their pros and cons.

Lol. I get it many people really don't like touch wiz. I happen to, but I can understand.
As for Android I feel like (somewhat) manufacturers can't get away with putting lower end specs in their flagships for the sake of planned obselescence the way Apple does it. The Note II for example, literally has almost every top end feature I could think of at the time of its release. Same with the Note 4. I know that's just Samsung, but I'm using them as an example.

With the exception of the occasional problem caused by iOS 8, I don't think either of the new iPhones would qualify as slow or underpowered, so I'm not going to worry too much about whether there's a 1 or a 2 in a particular column. That said, the tab reloading thing is annoying in Safari. On the phone I tend not to have too many tabs actually in active use, but on the iPad I use it more as I would use my computer. If more RAM would remedy that I would be for it.

It's all about the money, 6s+ will probably have 2GB RAM. Need something to make it worth upgrading. And your right there's no excuses for it.. Note 4 FTW.

Sorry but that's BS. Really old, every time a similar question is asked, there comes a guy like you saying that it's all about the money. Apple would have more things to add on the iPhone 6S to make it upgradable from the iPhone 5s and they are not going to mention the RAM increase on the keynote anyway. Changing the RAM capacity on their devices every year or so is not what Apple does. Apple does have a different philosophy then other mobile phone manufactures. While others focus on spec sheets, Apple focus on the user experience. I have said this before and I will say it again: What difference does a higher RAM capacity makes if the user experience on your device sucks?

Oh, by the way.... how many 4 year old devices from other smartphone manufactures you see in the wild? Because I see lots and lot's of iPhone 4 and 4s users.

"What difference does a higher RAM capacity makes if the user experience on your device sucks?"

How does tabs reloading constantly with only 6 or so open, not even switching between other apps or anything, not effect my user experience?

It does not effect my user experience at all, on the blazing fast 4G I would not even notice it. Besides, they did reload on my Galaxy S5 too. Guess how much RAM that thing have? You guessed right, 2GB of RAM.

Not talking about samsung phones bloated with touchwiz or even android right now, talking about the iphone.

"It does not effect my user experience at all"

So because it doesn't effect you it can't possibly effect someone else?

Yeh, would like to see your reaction when you are writting a long text and it does reload and loosing all your written text, position...Don't compare with that crapsung with touchwizz bloatware, try to compare with M8, Nexus.
And what about people who doesn't have at that moment blazing fast 4G? or those who have limited cellular data plan and those reloads eating additional bandwidth.

Yeah, but I can't talk about some particular individuals user experience now, can I? And actually just tried opening tabs (up to 10 open on safari) and I do not notice any reloading at all on my iPhone 6. Seriously, not sure what the fuss is all about.

I go to Japan average 6x per year.
Looking around on a typical metro train car in Tokyo you see about half the commuters using iPhone and fully half of those are 4 series. Very common still. You even see 3 series once in a while.

I don't remember ever seeing any Samsung devices. Very rare.

Japanese are hardcore Apple fans and seems that 3.5" best for them, maybe because their hands are small :)

I hear ya. I've always been on the non S cycle, but that may change. But then if we hop on the 6S cycle, we will miss out on the redesign of the 7 :p

The lack of Samsung devices in Japan are mainly due to deep rooted hatred between Japan and Korea.

Hong Kong is very different. Complete mixture of android devices in train cars and now a real minority of iPhones about. Lots of Samsung and Sony mostly. It's changed rather rapidly about 2 years ago, before that it was all iPhones.
