Yeah, but I can't talk about some particular individuals user experience now, can I? And actually just tried opening tabs (up to 10 open on safari) and I do not notice any reloading at all on my iPhone 6. Seriously, not sure what the fuss is all about.

Well your iphone must be blessed by the ghost of Steve himself because anandtechs review phones and all the units I've demoed reload with less tabs than that.

Sorry but that's BS. Really old, every time a similar question is asked, there comes a guy like you saying that it's all about the money. Apple would have more things to add on the iPhone 6S to make it upgradable from the iPhone 5s and they are not going to mention the RAM increase on the keynote anyway. Changing the RAM capacity on their devices every year or so is not what Apple does. Apple does have a different philosophy then other mobile phone manufactures. While others focus on spec sheets, Apple focus on the user experience. I have said this before and I will say it again: What difference does a higher RAM capacity makes if the user experience on your device sucks?

Oh, by the way.... how many 4 year old devices from other smartphone manufactures you see in the wild? Because I see lots and lot's of iPhone 4 and 4s users.

Not necessarily. Apple chooses to highlight areas that they can claim a marketing advantage in - and rightly so. But that does not mean that they operate on some highfalutin plane than everyone else with outtakes on philosophy etc. They are just another mega corp that tries to maximize shareholder value using means they are good at.

They prominently announced 64-bit chips when they had the first mover advantage. Then there is "ion-X strengthened glass". Apple does use specs and jargon when they are actually ahead and can claim a benefit.

I don't think it's unfair to say that 99% of iPhone users would be happy to wait an extra second if they could have the screen quality of a samsung device.

Screen quality of a Samsung device? Are you kidding me? Most people who tests screens say the 6+ screen blows away pretty much anything from Samsung. So why would I want an inferior screen?

Still perplexed why Apple didn't upgrade at LEAST the 6 Plus to 2 GB RAM .

When you have the Sony Zperia Z3 at 3GB RAM, no excuses.

I am so tired of people comparing specs from an iPhone to any Android phone. This is why with OSX you can do pretty much the same thing with 4gb ram as with a PC running 8gb ram. The OS is what matters here. And honestly, as the apps are upgraded to run properly on the iPhone 6/6+, you will see how little the iPhone 6+ needs 2gb ram.

1GB is a joke and pathetic by Apple.

No, it isn't, but people like you that have absolutely no idea what they're talking about are somehow still allowed to post in public. I don't get it.

This forum bans people for slightest of insults, but allows sheer ignorance and falsehood. I don't get it. The latter is far less useful and and far more damaging.

Im already struggling with my 6+. With 13000 pictures, everytime I open my photos app it freezes and takes about a minute to 2 minutes before it becomes responsive. Quite annoying as I access them frequently

The bend is not an issue

13,000 pictures on a phone? That would probably cause most Macbooks to pause a sec as they load. Maybe a little data management/offloading might be in line.

I experience the same thing, but I think it's a bug with the photos app rather than lack of memory per se. I don't recall it being an issue on my iPhone 5 or iPad mini with retina running iOS 7. For the moment, I've just paired down my photo library.

Wow. Stereotype much?

Well, it is based somewhat in fact. Asian adults are smaller on average than US adults, which, are a bit smaller than many western European adults.

Average adult height in Japan is 5' 7.5" for men and 5' 2.5" for women. In the US, it's 5' 9.5" for men and 5' 4" for women. So, on average, Japanese adults are 2" shorter than American adults. Meanwhile, Dutch men, on average, are 6' 0.5" and the women are 5' 7" on average.

I call BS. You must've opened 10 simple text web pages and didn't even try scrolling around in each page like we would normally do. I have to routinely cut and paste between 2-3 web pages at a time at times and my 6+ reloads web pages just as bad as my Air. My iPhone 5 was better as it only ran on 32 bit which is more ram efficient. My only recourse is to jump around to the note app and paste there temporarily before putting it into the final web page. I shouldn't be having to do this on an almost $1000 phone in 2014.

We'll see if you'll still be backing up your statement when the Air 2 comes out in a week with 2gb of ram and doesn't have to reload tabs all the time like their 1gb forebears.

The lack of Samsung devices in Japan are mainly due to deep rooted hatred between Japan and Korea.

In my personal experience more of the deep-rooted hatred is from younger Koreans toward Japanese culture, older Koreans strangely enough don't seem to show this, meanwhile younger Japanese typically enjoy Korean culture, and older Japanese tend to be negative toward Koreans.

Typical example- K-pop is popular among high school age Japanese. Older Koreans use Japanese influenced words for common items. Younger Koreans go out of their way to shun those words in favor of the "pure" Korean phrases and words.

So it doesn't make sense that supposed Japanese negativity toward Korea is a strong influence in the lack of Samsung in the market, when you look at the demographics of buyers of Android devices- young, technically savvy.

There's another reason they're choosing Apple (or more accurately, not choosing Samsung android devices).

My opinion? Japanese consumers are the most quality OCD in the world and Apple is the only company willing to put up with them. ;)

I personally don't think there's anything to the idea that the average Japanese consumer would specifically not pick a Korean brand out of a dislike for Korea. If anything, Korean culture is the most popular it's been in decades. There are Korean soap operas on TV, everybody seems to love kimchi, and K-pop is apparently popular. Of course that might not necessarily translate over to the world of consumer electronics. But the point it's not a hatred for Korea so much as it is a distrust for unfamiliar foreign brands.

I haven't lived in Japan for a number of years, so it's difficult to say precisely why Samsung isn't more popular, but I do think that a lot of Japanese consumers are picky and have a certain sensibility about things that perhaps Samsung isn't catering to. And of course many people would still probably rather choose a Japanese brand like Sony.

I got the 128GB of storage to not offload my data somewhere else. I want one device to hold it all. And actually my macbook doesnt struggle at all loading my pics.

I sure hope so. Id hate to think that I dropped so much money on a phone that couldnt keep up with my needs :[

It will be outdated in 2 yrs. Right now it runs iOS 8 great. A year from now it will run iOS 9 along with the iphone 6S which might be 2 Gb ram. 2 years from now, it will run at less than optimal iOS 10 because the OS will definitely be taking advantage of more ram. This is why its a big deal that the iphone 6 still has only 1 GB of ram. Its set up to be dated in just 2 yrs.

For the majority of people that do upgrade every 2 years, this is not a problem.

You are so smart

I would be shocked if the Air 2 comes with 2gb ram for starters. And even if it does, who cares. When the apps get iOS 8 upgrades, the 1gb on the iPhone 6+ will be just fine. The only issue the 6+ is having right now has to do with scaling the old apps up to 6+ resolutions. Complaining about specs the way the Android dweebs do is just so silly with iOS products. The OS does a much better job and doesn't need all the other crap.

Seems silly to have that many apps on a phone, whether you bought a 128gb model or not. Keeping it organized with the existing tools on an iPhone seems tantamount to digging the Panama Canal with a garden spade.. Wrong tool for the job, at least logically speaking..

Keeping pictures on a phone is not a good idea?

Prepare to be shocked as all the leaked pictures of the logic board do show 2gb of ram.

Keeping 13,000 pictures on a phone is a pretty silly idea. 1300? ok. 13,000? WHAT?!?

Why would I keep pictures period? Why some and not others? what is the criteria for having select pictures on the phone? Its going to be all or none for me. If it just works, it should just work. I shouldnt have to go through my pictures and only select a few to put on there. If I want to go through my pictures, I want the ability to go through all of them...

I see nothing silly at all about keeping 13,000 pictures on your phone. I have 25,000+ pictures in my iPhoto library, going back many years. I'm sure I'm not the only person who would like to just have their entire library of photos with them at all times, not so much because you absolutely need all 13,000 of them at once, but because you never know when you might want to see a picture from a certain event a few years ago. And also, if you take a lot of photos it becomes rather burdensome to try and rate and sort them so that only certain ones go onto the phone. I think you can make the same argument when it comes to things like music.

In my case, I decided to store my photos on Flickr (marked private) since it would accomplish this task without filling up my phone and would also serve as a backup.
