Can the new Macbook be considered as an iPad killer and if so why?
What limitations? I just stated that the iPad is dead.
Dead to you because you can't imagine a use for it.
It is not dead to me, I have 3 iPads doing a huge range of tasks daily in my work and household. I know or know of people who use them exclusively in their work, particularly art and music, but other things too.
So, speak for yourself instead of deeming a tool to be useless or dead just because you don't need or use it. I'm sick of seeing this ignorant attitude on these forums.

Or going to the toilet.
Which is good for preventing hemorrhoids.

I have an iPad Air 2, and at work it's definitely at iPad killer for people using them with keyboards. Now that it has a retina display and weighs about as much as an iPad with a keyboard case, it's definitely an iPad killer in work scenarios where I need to get real work done between meetings. The iPad was OK, but for my work the Macbook is superior.
That said, at home I still overwhelmingly prefer the iPad. I mostly consume content at home and the iPad is still way nicer for those scenarios in my experience. I've had the rMB for about two weeks now, and now that the newness has worn off I'm back to the iPad at the house.
It's the best competition to the iPad for sure, but it depends on the use-case and software in the end.
If it was an iPad killer, Apple would not have made it.
Corporations are not in the habit of creating product lines that cannibalize each other. That's now how you scale.
On an ipad you can play 3D games smoothly, on a Macbook you can't. So it won't kill the ipad.
To the people who are saying that they are for completely different purposes, what are you doing on your Macbook that you can't with an iPad and keyboard cover?

I think the iPad will always have its place .. (personally I can't find any use for it) .. but people seem to love theirs ..
the iPad is really for web consumption and not creation ..

At that price no not a chance.
for me anyway I prefer my macbook air to my iPad and sold my iPad.
different devices... completely different, in use scenario especially. If anyone needs that explaining to them I can't help.
