I'm confused. You first say not a chance, then you say your MBA already killed the iPad for you so you sold it - and then you say the devices are completely different and shouldn't be compared this way?

So...which is it? (for you)

here let me explain for you.

At that price no not a chance.

For the market, for anyone, at the price point differences as they are priced so far apart dollar/pound wise, no not a chance.

for me anyway I prefer my macbook air to my iPad and sold my iPad.

Self explanatory

different devices... completely different, in use scenario especially. If anyone needs that explaining to them I can't help.

Speaking for everyone here, they are dif... oh see last sentence.

I agree with you that the different form factor and OS differences make them clearly different device categories, but you sold your iPad and replaced it with your MBA - so for you personally the use cases must have overlapped quite a bit since one replaced the other?

So for you the MBA WAS an iPad killer...

no. The iPad was a different device that I bought thinking it would be what I wanted. It wasn't. I bought a macbook air. Spend all my time on the macbook. iPad sat in the kitchen as usual. Macbook never killed the iPad. iPad killed itself.

I'm still debating whether to give up my iPad. Like some of you in this thread, I use my MacBook for many of the things one would normally use an iPad for. Call me old school, but there's something about doing these things on a desktop OS that I like...even something as simple as watching videos. I just like the function/navigation of a desktop OS for your everyday things, even if it's easier to do on iOS.

I got the iPhone 6 shortly before I got the rMB, and my iPad has seen almost no usage since. Even before, I really only used it for reading documents/PDFs. If Apple doesn't go back to the Mini being on par with the Air, then I will definitely drop it.

Ok, gotcha - the iPad never really was "alive" for you, it never became the go to device for you in the first place! Not saying you're wrong, obviously, different strokes for different folks...:D

I'd say it is more of a Macbook Air killer (eventually) than iPad killer.

My guess is that Apple line up will consist of Macbook, Macbook Pro, iMac and Mac Pro. The MB is already thiner than the Air. It seems redundant to have Air and MB. We will have to wait and see what Apple do.

The iPad is a different product, but I can see how someone who wants a little more than an iPad could settle with the MB. (For instance, a keyboard).
