YES, there DO seems to be more hype. Me I don’t care about new macs. But, I am going to see it because I love watching Apple events.
Hey! I switched to iPad Pro full time and do lots of creating on it….but your points are mostly valid for 99 percent of the population. 🤣Well yeah, computers are still fun. They're not only a gateway to the information super highway but enable us to create. Phones and iPads are boring consumption devices that these days tend to just keep people stuck in a few awful social media hellscapes.
(I'm somewhat serious, but not overly so)
Yup. My 2010 is ready to be replaced once Apple fixes the keyboard (check), adds useful ports back, brings back magsafe and gets rid of the Touch Bar in favor of f-keys.I've had the 2007 MacBook Pro 17, the 2014 MacBook Pro 15 and the 2015 MacBook Pro 15. These were all great systems for me. I got ten years out of the 2007 (it became my backup). I've no doubt that the 2014 will last ten years. The plan is to sell the 2015 and keep the 2014 as a backup for the M1X. 2016-2019 were years I deliberately skipped because of the known problems. So overall, I've been pretty lucky. The 2015 was a used purchase that was cheap because the body was so banged up.
Just youMore people are excited for the M1X macs than the iPhones and I am one of them. I fully get the the M1X Mac is just way more interesting than an iPhone.
I won't be buying them anytime soon but I am VERY interested in the M1X as a tech nerd.
Anyone else feel the same??
Can't wait for next week!!
They’re super powered pocket computers with incredible cameras, and they happen to also make and receive phone calls…I still can't understand people getting excited for a phone...
ever since the 16" I am let down by these events! lol... enjoying my MBA m1!I cannot speak for anyone else, but I am always more excited for the Mac events than the iPhone events.
but…
I am also more let down, or disappointed by the Mac events than the iPhone events.
The “hello again” event still hurts.
I bought a MacBookPro16,1 last year(?), and it's been a rather disappointing thing in my life. Lagging, stalling, and downright seizures. Typing along, and the system is still on the word I typed over a minute ago. I haven't opened a case because others inflicted with the same diseases say all Apple does is want to swap it, and/or then deny there is a problem. It was an unexpected purchase due to me waiting until my butterfly keyboard got 'bad enough', and was outside their generous repair/replacement time. It generally works well, but goes through fits of obstinate behavior and sullen mood... Not impressed, disappointed actually, but at least the keyboard works. Small victory there... It does *seem* better with the new update, but I haven't been using it as much either.
There is a difference between hype and anticipation. Hype is imposed from outside and excitement comes from inside. The iPhone events always get more hype. They’re more important to the company and to more people. But to the smaller number of people who care about the ARM Macs, this is the where the excitement is. DefinitelyMore people are excited for the M1X macs than the iPhones and I am one of them. I fully get the the M1X Mac is just way more interesting than an iPhone.

Either you’re embellishing the heck out of what you’re seeing in your Mac, or it’s got something badly wrong with it. You’re not describing expected behavior of a MBP16”.I bought a MacBookPro16,1 last year(?), and it's been a rather disappointing thing in my life. Lagging, stalling, and downright seizures. I don’t need the 120Hz display. I see all these speculations about new screen technologies and all I can think is, “oh god, how much is THAT going to add to the prices?” CPU & GPU I’ll notice and use. Better screens… honestly they’re pretty good right now.I didn't even have those issues with my Macbook Air 2018...
Typing and system is behind for 1 minute? something is very wrong with your device!
My Macbook Pro 13" 2020 (Intel, i5) is really fast, and I use it for heavy working all the time (like 2 Virtual Machines open while coding in a heavy IDE) without any issues.
But still it lacks in graphics power really bad, if the graphics of the new devices are as rumored (32-cores) and the display is really 120Hz, I'll upgrade ASAP.
It is not. Just. You.More people are excited for the M1X macs than the iPhones and I am one of them. I fully get the the M1X Mac is just way more interesting than an iPhone.

I would like a HDR screen and miniLED adds HDR.I don’t need the 120Hz display. The Mac has always been riddled with issues even 20 years ago. The PowerBook Ti’s had issues with the painted trimming peeling off, displays dying, battery swelling for the Aluminum, nVidia issues under Intel, white MacBooks having discoloration issues. They have never been perfect machines, but I can say for the two I have, an early 2015 13 inch and the M1 13 inch, they have been rock solid so far.Hell yeah there’s more hype and anticipation.
1. The iPhone event was underwhelming and disappointing.
2. The MacBook Pro line has been riddled with past and current issues and a far cry from their once legendary status, people are thirsty for the return to its former glory.
Hopefully Apple delivers.
That should be exciting, but I don’t think we’ll see it until 2023 at the earliest. The good news is that the design should be a surprise because it may be made in the US like the current Pro.I’m interested as a step on the way to the M2X and a Mac Pro mini (cube?) with an Apple 5k monitor.
I think there’s more than a few waiting for that and the buzz then will be unprecedented.
Agreed when it comes to the laptops. Then again, I expect laptops in general have higher failure rates than desktops. The Mac has always been riddled with issues even 20 years ago. I forgot the lamination peeling issues under my 2015.Agreed when it comes to the laptops. Then again, I expect laptops in general have higher failure rates than desktops.
I've had three generations of 15" MBP's: 2008, 2011, and 2014. Each of them failed and needed a complete board replacement after just under three years. The 2014's board actually had to be replaced twice; in addition, it needed a new screen and—because of a swollen battery—a new case and trackpad. Fortunately I had Apple Care for all three.
All were treated quite gently physically (they spent most of the their time as desktop replacements), but not thermally (as desktop replacements, they were continously driving external monitors, which means the machines spent most of their life running their discrete GPU's).
OTOH, I had a Power Mac G5 (the 1st gen Mac Pro tower) that had no problems at all.
