On my iPad mini retina, every single app crashes, keyboard shows up sideways, inability to swipe down to respond to messages, unable to search in App Store and the list goes on.

Those were all things I was able to do on the previous beta.

On my iPhone 5 the situation is not as dire but it's a noticeable step backward in usability.

Beta 1 was quite stable despite being slightly buggy (on both iPhone 5 and iPad mini retina) but beta 2 is almost unusable in its current state.

anyone else seeing the same thing?

It may well be just you. Pretty much every predictable crash from B1 is gone.

Yeah, beta 2 has been great for me. I particularly had a keyboard problem that was affecting a couple of my apps but it's gone now. :) I'm happy.

I'm just now installing Beta 2 (clean install) and I found two things I didn't see in Beta 1 - I can't search for apps in the App Store and I can't change the passcode settings. I'm going to do a hard reboot and see if that fixes things.

B2 actually feels really solid. Besides a few app incompatibility issues, I haven't encountered any bugs yet.
I am not a dev though, I only play a few games and use a couple of social media apps, and of course, text, phone and email and etc. loving it so far.

Updated OTA. Beta 2 is very solid for me, all issues from B1 are gone. All issues meaning issues not expressly stated as persisting in the release notes for B2.

I was anticipating stability in Beta 2. Boy was I wrong.

- Phone freezes trying to make a call or answer one
- Messages app will freeze on a white screen often times
- While I'm viewing something on the screen the screen will black out and come back in an instance.

Such a bizarre experience compared to Beta 1.

Did a DFU install clean and did an upgrade.

clean installed both... B1 was unusable for me on my 5s... ****** battery life and nearly every app i use crashed upon load.

so far B2 is way better in battery and crashing... far from "stable", but i haven't switched back to iOS 7 after 8 hours like i did with B1

B1 was basically unusable for my 5s because of the crashes, resprings and safari not working at all. B2 has been a lot better, especially with battery life.

I've had the exact opposite experience. Beta 2 is much more stable on my iPhone 5. I had to drop back down to iOS 7 since everything respringed every 2 seconds on Beta 1.

Quick update:

Did a Clean Install this morning, and things seem to be running a lot better, I haven't experienced a single crash thus far, and all the other issues mentioned in in my OP, seem to also have been resolved (keeping fingers crossed).

I should have mentioned in my OP that most of the crashes occurred during multitasking, they no longer happen.

So if anyone else is experiencing similar issues, Clean Install is the way to go.

Thanks to everyone who offered help.

on my 4S beta 2 is smoother feeling than 1.. however, apps are crashing a lot more, which wasn't really a problem for me with 1.

Do yourself a favor and clean install.

Huge difference from OTA, especially with multiple bug fixes and enhancements.

Beta 2 is MUCH more stable than 1, at least for me.
