The 3G feels much better in your hand.

Totally agree. Feels so much better in the hand. I think they both look sharp, but I am glad I upgraded to the 3G.

As another posted also said, the black bottom on the 2G just looks out of place.

3G has better reception and feels more comfortable in your hand. 2G was good, but the aluminum dented easily and blocked reception more than 3G does. 3G rules overall.

The plastic is more practical and probably better, but the aluminum looked classier and more expensive. It could be made of cardboard if it got reception outside of selected market share areas as far as I am concerned.

I've always thought the black plastic at the bottom of the original iPhone looked a little out of place.

Thought I liked the 1st gen better but after upgrading for improved signal and GPS I prefer the 3G.

More comfortable to hold and the all around black glossy look is veeeery sleek.

damn they all look so sexy, i wish i had them all :D

I have the black one and it wasn't a tough decision over the white one but the alu one looks cool too.
Don't know if I had to I would go with the black one:apple:

My dad has the 3G and I have the 2G and Ido like aluminum more but it is just so darn slippery, it always slips out of my hand but the 3G has some more resistance.

Much prefer my 2G.

I hope beyond words that when the third gen iPhone appears they at least get rid of that godawful curvature that means the 3G doesn't fit in a slipcase properly.

I like them both, But I am not too happy about the 3g plan costing more. So I will stick with the 2g :)

The problem with the white phone is you don't see how fugly it is until you can see it along with the front. It just looks out of whack to me. But if some of you like it, go for it. I'm hoping for a red or blue version for 3.0, since I have decided to wait on the next big update.

I'm actually suprised we haven't seen a red version yet with the whole product red line. I would of thought it would have come out by now.

the aluminum of the 2g was classier and felt more solid to hold than the 3g phone

Originally I preferred the 2G but upgraded for the 3G, GPS, and improved sound quality now I actually prefer the 3G feel. I absolutely love the curved back, it feels much better in your hand. My only complaint is the plastic cracks! I've been through 4 iPhone 3G's because of cracking. I'm hoping the new iPhone will be aluminum again but will have the curved back design.

I like my original iPhone's look way better than my 3G, functionality aside. I find it funny that the old one matches the new MacBooks, iMac, and ACD's....and the 3G travels back to the old MacBook style. o_O

The 3G does feel better in your hand but to be honest every time I get to hold a 2G iPhone I kind of miss it.

I played the good samaritan and let a friend use my 1st gen after he lost his 3G snowboarding. Otherwise I'm sure I'd had second thoughts about getting the 3G. But since the original isn't around tantalizing me I've come to like the look and feel of the 3G better.
