To make a long story short, I got into an argument with my fiancé and threw my precious iphone 7 plus across the living room.

Now its bent at the bottom. The home button is making a loud clicking sound when I press it and some little elastic ring came off. And it sounds like its wheezing when it vibrates.

Is it safe for me to use it? I'm worried the battery might be bent as well.

I plan on buying another one but I just need to know if its safe to use until then.

You're just a bad aim. Get a new phone and use the old one for target practice. Good luck with the new girlfriend.

Surprised with the maturity on this thread here. I respect it.

But, to the OP, I would be cautious, as any battery damage could result in your phone pulling a Samsung... *kaboom*

Go to an Apple Store and ask for an "out of warranty repair" - which means for about half the price of a new phone, they take your phone and replace it with a refurbished one. Lot cheaper than buying a new one. I suppose that argument was with your ex-fiancé?

Unfortunately I'm currently in a country with no apple store. So I have to pay money for a new one.

I guess this is what I get for losing my temper.

That clicking sound probably isn't the home button (unless it's cracked). It's solid state so it doesn't move. There is probably some internal damage.

No idea where the elastic ring would have come from (maybe it's for water resistance) but definitely not a good sign.

Like others have said, you'll want to get it looked at even if you don't get a replacement. The battery may be fine but there is almost certainly something broken inside the phone.

I believe it may be the Taptic Engine that got damaged. Because whenever I get a call or try and use 3D Touch, it makes that horrible clicking sound. It sounds like a duck with bronchitis.

I would take it to a 3rd party authorized apple repair shop , but the country I'm currently in charges outrages amounts of money for iPhone repairs. The repairs sometimes add up to a cost of a new iPhone.

I brought a new iPhone 7 plus yesterday. Thankfully they had my same model and color. But it was really painful putting out money for a brand new iPhone. Especially since I just put out money for one just 2 months ago.

In that case, yeah, buying a new phone was probably your best option. Even here in the US, it still probably would have cost you the same as an out-of-warranty replacement.

Im glad you got it resolved. That sucks, but at least you only lost your phone. I've seen people lose much more by failing to control their tempers ;)

Merry Christmas!

Take her phone, if it's an iPhone 7+, that one is now yours and you give her the bent one. If it isn't, throw it. If it's a Samsung, it'll take care of itself.
